Revolution Cucamonga Valley Zinfandel Palomino

The nose on this thing is amazing! It’s tight and crispy acidity with the red fruit, with white pepper, celery, cranberry, underripe strawberries, maybe a little fennel, some salinity and maybe a little fresh mulch or forest floor. Medium bodied and a cranberry like color, with a little pale raspberry color. The palate has the same zippy acidity with some real tannin that sit well mid palate, while the fruit emerges to the sides. It’s got a little earth, great energy, and a long grippy finish and an impressive first impression for the Cucamonga Valley. — 6 months ago

Château Caronne Ste. Gemme

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Just needed time, both in storage and decant. Better on the 2nd day
Some historical stuff I found online,

The Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme property has been making wine since the French Revolution and has existed since the mid 1600's. Now in the hands of the Nony family, who is related to the Borie family of multi-chateau fame, the estate is in excellent hands.
The vines average about thirty years of age and are located in the southwest corner of Saint Julien. The grapes are fermented in cement vats where they also undergo malolactic fermentation. From there they're aged in one third new French oak for one year before bottling.

The People's Choice Blackberry Wine

As I poured this wine the smell of roses hit my nose, with a swish of light-bodied wine in the cup. The palate was quenched with sweet ripe blackberry flavors and juicy zest — 5 years ago

Fruit baked on clay bricks. Dusty yet fruity. Not my favorite, but still good. I think Kieu Hoang makes better bottles honestly. — 8 years ago

Revolution Weinviertel Chardonnay Blend

Bright, concentrated hazy lemon yellow with flecks of marigold.

Very fragrant, with aromas of elderflower, dried apricot, unripe yellow peach, lychee, honeysuckle, red apple skin, sage, preserved lemon, candied ginger, white grapefruit, and almond skin, which carry through to the mouthwatering palate.

A complex intersection of floral, stone fruit, saline, and savory notes, this is a show-stopping wine and an incredible value at $30 retail. It’s dry and lightly tannic, with tangy acidity and a long and evolving finish.

I had this on its own and it was delightful. I’m certain it would be a fantastic pairing with a whole bunch of different dishes and cuisines, but I kind of feel like it deserves to be savored alone as the star of the show.

Mas Gourdou

Pic St. Loup Syrah 2016

Kirk F
9.0

The photo does the wine no justice. Also consumed at our farm table dinner, this is from a winery we’d visited earlier in the day. In the same family since the French Revolution, Mas Gourdou is a small operation producing a nice variety of Pic Saint Loup wines. This bottling, made up of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, spends 12 months in used French Oak and offers up ripe berries on the nose with a silky palate of spice, earth and brambly fruit. A beautiful evening shared with the family - so fun to watch the appreciation of wine growing in the kids! — 8 years ago
