Moulin De Gassac

Daumas Gassac

Mas de Daumas Gassac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2022

I love Mas de Daumas Gassac’s whites and know a lot of people who do. I also like their reds but know many people (some of the same) who do not. They find the Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the Languedoc to be not quite right. On this bottle, I think I’ve identified something I like in the reds. The Cab Sauv has some of the same taste profile of better Chilean Cab Sauv that I grew up drinking as the son of Chileans (before they served the international / Parkerized palate). Anyway, a young bottle, but enjoyable with ribeye steaks, sautéed mushrooms and sautéed spinach. It represents a field blend of 12-20 different varietals, mostly historically French, but from all the major regions. 76% Cab Sauv,, 5% Tannat, 4% Merlot, 3% Pinot Noir, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Syrah, 2% Cab Franc, plus ~4% other grapes from Italy, Georgia, Spain and France (the technical sheet identifies the Camenere as Chilean, but it is originally from France). — 6 days ago

Haute Vallee du Gassac White Blend 2024

Lovely rich white wine. Tropical fruit mix brings out that Summer feeling. Very refreshing. Apricot and peach to start, citrus in the middle, passion fruit and acid to finish. — 3 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2009

Anyone who thinks Bojo does not age never tasted this wine. Beautiful aromas of dried black cherry, cranberry and smoke. My palate was assaulted with flavors of black & red cherries, cinnamon, spice and minerals. Plenty of acid despite the warm year. So obvious it was made by a Burgundy producer. A perfect cork helps. — 5 months ago

@Ira Schwartz I’m with you 💯. These wines are beautiful with 10-15 years of age and never seem to be running out of steam. I think the oldest vintage of the V.V. I currently have in my cellar is 2014 but I’m always in the lookout.

Château des Jacques

Moulin-A-Vent Gamay 2022

Nice bottle, good sale price (40 for 10off). Almost too acidic by the end of the bottle. :( — a month ago

Chateau Du Moulin À Vent

Moulin-a-Vent Gamay 2021

Beautiful soft Burgundy red. But this Burgundy wine is darker than normal. Soft, gentle tannins. Juicy prune, soft fruit. Love this wine. — 3 months ago

Château Moulin Riche

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Opened and aerated. Bouquet of dry dirt cherry! initial taste of dry dusty cherries. Middle of old world dryness. Finishes with the medium dryness of dusty grapes. A great French wine. — 6 months ago

Moulin Touchais

Coteaux du Layon Chenin Blanc 1985

Damn! It opened up with liquorice (sic.) and had just everything else in it. Mushrooms, turned earth, a touch of burnt honey and finally hiding just a hint of caramelized pineapple that lingers till the end. Sweetness only shows up for the grand finale in an jaw dropping show if how of how 95 g/l looks after 40 years — 3 months ago

Daumas Gassac

Rosé Frizant Vin de Pays de l'Hérault Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Trying the Mas de Daumas Gassac lineup. Aside from their flagship Languedoc red this might be my fav. It’s rose sparkling with incredibly bright strawberry notes and deep acidity. Light lees flavour. The hefty body and full mousse really make it stand out. Wow. — 7 months ago
