Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.
Fruit forward on the nose.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, earth and light black tea.
This 24-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is still delicious, though I had hoped it would be even better.
Showing nice complexity and mouthfeel, but it feels a little tired.
Needed 2 hours to open up properly, and remove the mildew notes.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with food too.
A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.
13.9% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Took a while to open up but once it did it was very nice. Dark berries and blueberries with some noticeable acid and tannins. Could be laid down for many more years. — 7 months ago
Nicely matured and ready-to-go! Very old school Napa Cab nose with weediness and cassis wrestling for top billing. So velvety in the mouth. Tannins nearly all gone. Nicely concentrated, there savory and fruity flavors are in a nice equipoise. Lots of length! Very nice. — a month ago
Pale straw with bright and clean favors and a crisp touch of mineral over lemon, pear, and white peach. — 2 months ago
2019 vintage. From a 375 ml format. Amongst what passes for the ne plus ultra in Napa cabbage these days. Rich. Overtly sumptuous. Modicum of umami on the finish. Restrained/polite company version of a fruit bomb. Too extracted/manipulated without representative tannins for this old-school Dunn/Diamond Creek/Mayacamas/Montelena guy but still verry nice for this style. Dunno where this settles in twenty years but that's someone else's problem down the road. 7.7.24. — 4 months ago
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black and red fruits with tobacco, chocolates, coffee, cola, cedar, leather, vanilla, spices, earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Complex, spicy and tangy. Rich and elegant.
Showing a great mouthfeel with good balance.
Needs 90 minutes of airtime to open up properly, so be patient.
I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it is very consistent, although not as good as their Estate Cabernet.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.
A nice sipping wine, good by itself or with food.
14.1% alcohol by volume.

Floral, jasmine, and honeysuckle. Crisp finish and well balanced. — 5 months ago
2018 vintage. 135 cases made. Barrett Vineyard on some little property known as Chateau Montelena. Last vintage of this was 2007. Rest has been blended elsewhere since. 14.8% and all French oak. Some punch/acidity with plenty of brooding body and a little performance fruit. Far from gratuitous. Very interesting given the pedigree, involvement and performance. 3.13.24. — 8 months ago

This wine is exactly what I wanted. I knew it would be good after touring the winery and hearing the history but this wine delivers. Citrus/lychee/ floral aroma and flavor. Everybody should drink this wine even if they're not the biggest chardonnay fans. — 22 days ago
