From favorite/best blocks Lede winery. Dark black/purple. On the nose: black fruit, cassis, spice, cedar. Taste: black cherry, spice, cocoa, wet gravel....Give it more time to show best.

Smooth, fruity dark red blend; great with our pizza. Blackberry and some vanilla notes. We would try again. — 9 years ago
mild nose. forest floor/wet earth, and some ripe red cherry....tasted of cranberry and twigs. no finish- but delicious. red fruit and earth. more gamay should masquerade as pinot. :) — 9 years ago
It's a bit more sweet than I usually like, but I'm nuts for this one. Juicy apricot and stone fruits, maybe some guava. — 10 years ago
Mixed feelings, mixed review: very inward nose, crushed wildflowers with some sourness; strong piss yellow color; on the palate, white petals, some dry nectarine pith, soft acidity. Could masquerade as a funky white Rhône? But it’s not, it’s Spanish, Ribeiro. . And rare. And expensive. A few double sips as wondered if corked. A strange if not enjoyable wine. — 6 years ago
The nose of this medium-dark wine is beautiful, all ripe and red, with notes of vanilla and tobacco woven into the fruit. A high minty element makes things interesting. On the palate, it walks the tightrope between elegant and muscular. The alcohol is somewhat restrained and the acidity is refreshing. There is some brawn there, but it stops just short of being the kind of California Pinot that tries to masquerade as Syrah. — 9 years ago
One of the better values from the great 2000 vintage...Château Haut-Bergey from #PessacLeognan. Still drinking at its peak and showing its age in the best way. Black currant, cigar box, smoke, violets, and coffee. Lots of floral elements. Medium bodied and lots of finesse. Fine tannic structure. Good minerality on the medium length finish. An interesting wine from Pessac that at times seemed to masquerade as a wine from Margaux. There is enough depth of fruit and tannic structure for this to keep going for at least a few more years. — 10 years ago
A wine that would do well at a masquerade party. On opening a dead ringer for an aged riesling, petrol and honey. The palate is full of honey, pears and faint hints of minerals all wrapped in a wave of acid. No one would be criticized if they tasted it blind and said aged Chenin . Fascinating — 11 years ago
Medium red color. On the nose: cherry, potting soil, vanilla, strawberry. Taste: strawberry, spice, red licorice, vanilla.

Clear yellow gold color, clean grapefruit nose, refreshing hoppy grapefruit & bready taste, this could masquerade as an IPA, very good! — 9 years ago

One of my spring / summer pets (thanks @Maura Passanisi for introducing me). A Viognier picked so early that it can masquerade as Riesling: lemon/lime dominant, light summer jasmine, subtle hints of underripe nectarine and tropical fruit (mango?). Racy acidity. No grandma’s perfume here. Medium, buttery body. Excellent paired with coconut 🍤🍤🍤 tacos. — 5 years ago
