Upon opening and initial pour, this is severe in its dryness and austerity. Brings to mind ( well, my warped mind), very pale tanned blonde leather upholstery,Saddle leather.,Baguettes. With the sea and salt marsh hanging back. Let it sit and air for a bit while I prepared chicken breasts salmoriglio with lots of lemon, come back and it sings with matching acidity and on the finish, an interesting broad dried orange peel that is perfectly there. On day two, the dried orange peel comes to the nose, and a sweet, malty character makes itself known in the mid palate.
A weirdo let’s make Manzanilla with no fortification by Navazos and Niepoort. Rewards aging. Definitely a “table wine” for Sherry freaks. I count myself as one.

Unreal nose. The chestnut barrels really doing their thing here. This also just reeks of terroir. Reeks. Unreal wet earth, mushrooms, marsh, spices galore and damson roses. Unreal cherry clarity. Just stunning out of the gates. Palate is ultra juicy and clean, silky and smooth right out of the gates which is highly unusual for this Cru as it needs hours, often days of air. A wine that tastes and smells like Autumn. So fresh, energetic but also has the plumpness of 18. Can’t wait to see where this goes. — 9 months ago

Clear, deep garnet in colour with clean, pronounced aromas of flowers, black cherries, tobacco, leather and figs. Dry, medium to full bodied with high acidity and high tannins that are in perfect balance. Complex flavours of blackberries, cherries and vanilla with even a hint of tobacco. Long finish. Opened 6 - 7 hours before being decanted for an hour or two before consumption. An outstanding wine. One of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever had. An absolutely fantastic accompaniment to the rack of Romney Salt Marsh lamb.
