Nose is fantastic, with kirsch, ripe raspberry ooze, smoky bricks, roasted herbs. Rich and intense on the attack, with initial fruit giving way to a long, savory finish. Full-bodied. My only criticism is that the tannins are a tad bit coarse, and add a slight bitterness that detracts at the end. — a month ago

Smells like 16 or 17. Gilles does not believe in putting vintages on labels. Or corks. I’ll say 17. Hay, pickled lemons, mineral, wild flowers, ripe something, maybe a minor tropical fruit. Really fine pointed minerality. This is 17. Acid is very very low. It’s rich, but man that low acid does not work. Good texture and length. Barely a 9.0. Gained weight, some freshness and complexity. 9.0 to 9.1 to 9.2. — 4 days ago

Nose is brooding. Black cherry. Almost some graphite.
Ok scratch that. After 30 minutes you get the quazzolo ness. Intense spice on the nose. Brighter cherries. Some florals. Clove. Cinnamon. Allspice. Potpourri perfume. So layered. Very elegant for a wine with fruit like this. Very singular.
The q man delivers.
Palate is dark cherry. Delicious. Good acidic balance. Licorice. Dense but fresh.
As it opens dense delicious fresh cherry fruit. Spice. Internal aromatics are that spice potpourri.
Finish is omg. Long. Spicy. Dense fresh cherry extract.
Borderline 9.4.
This is like this bizarre fusion of modern and traditional styles. You get the dense fruit, drink ability and utter deliciousness of modern wines. You also get the aromatic intensity balance grip and juiciness of well made traditional wines.
The q man delivers.
