Nothing better than a well aged Chardonnay and fatty, cold water fish. This bottle is our go to pairing for grilled steelhead trout.
Nose is evolving since my prior post, oxidized green apple peel and cold caramel.
Palate is lightly sweet lemon curd/custard, baked red apple, cooked lemon, warm granite dust and a zing of acidity on the close.
Our feline house managers pestered for comfortable portions on the trout, they are good boys and girls, generally, so we endulge.
Great night listening to Hugh Masekela and Mongo Santamaria on the HiFi, everything complimented!
One bottle left, then we move along to the next vintage. — 11 days ago
Green apple and pear. Medium bodied, with a slightly saline and chalky finish that reminds me of oysters. Oysters I should have been having with it. Simple wine, by very nicely balanced. — a day ago
Medium lemon color with developing aromas of apple, toast, butter, vanilla, lemon, blossom and nectarine. Dry, medium alcohol, medium (+) acidity, medium body. Pronounced flavors of toast, apple, pear, peach, and vanilla. Long finish. Very good quality. Drink now, but has potential for further aging. — 14 days ago
Ripe melon on the nose. Rich round complex tropical. Pineapple. Mango. River rock- a touch of astringency to balance the ripeness. Creamy without cloying. Oh so very lovely. It calls for soft shelled crab- any seafood really that’s very fresh and simply prepared. Music? Hmmmm. Jazz. Not studio. Live sets that have some ad lib in them. Nothing too controlled. Celebratory. Savor. Raise that- get it out for friends nice glass- to life!!!! — 20 days ago
Lush white Burgundy (Chardonnay), nice balance of fruit and acid, with no oak, at The Hurricane in Kennebunkport — 3 days ago
Very refreshing, nice mouthfeel, apple, pear, mineral, no oak but 100% ML, brioche note on palate- lees aging. Great value — 9 days ago
Not a big Chardonnay guy, mostly because of the California style, but this wine is complex and unctuous. Great balanced acidity with a strong mineral, like wet slate. This is the first Chardonnay I have truly loved in a long time. — 9 days ago
