Overview
Mâcon-Villages is often considered the “gateway” to Burgundy whites, made for freshness and early drinking. What makes this bottle remarkable is its survival—cellared for a decade, it defies expectations for such an entry-level Chardonnay. Proof that even modest Bourgogne whites can occasionally surprise.

Aromas & Flavors
Candied baked pear, hints of honey, and touches of bruised apple. Some oxidative tones, but still carrying a thread of orchard fruit brightness.

Mouthfeel
Rounded and softened with age, medium-bodied, and gently waxy. Less about crispness now, more about mellow textures and faded fruit.

Food Pairing
Best suited for soft cheeses (Brie, Délice de Bourgogne), roasted chicken, or simply enjoyed contemplatively on its own for its curiosity factor.

Verdict
Not the most refined or expressive, but undeniably fascinating—especially given it was crafted for youthful freshness. A gentle reminder that Chardonnay, even from humble origins, can age with surprising grace.

My favorite Macon Chard. This wine drinks so much higher than its cost. Green apple, lemon curd, used oak, acidic, full bodied. Excellent with cheese, cream sauce. Love to pair it with an Alfredo Chicken pizza. — 6 months ago

Wow. Such a nice wine coming from humble origins. Needs some air to express itself. On the nose yellow lilies, apple blossom, almost a hint of jasmine, just ripe yellow apple, just ripe pear, a touch of fresh vanilla. On the palate, this really shines. Ripe orchard fruits, rich without being cloying. Blind I would place this as a village Meursault. Yellow apple, pear, touch almond, buttery and rich texture with minimal oak, crème brûlée; I’m assuming from skillful lees management . Good acidity, decent length. 13 abv. 24 usd at the grocery store. I haven’t seen ratings anywhere near where I’ve placed this, but maybe this is a product of a good vintage? Pop and pour, notes from 45 min open. Lovely, and my best bottle..also my last '12. On the nose: lemon, soft ginger, a touch of honey, some sour apple. All of the grapes from the vineyards owned by the Latour family are vinified and aged in the cuverie of Château Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. The winery was the first purpose-built cuverie in France and remains the oldest still-functioning. Medium pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruits with a slight nutty floral character. On the palate flavors of peach and melon with lemon citrus and savory notes. Medium+ finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit, toasty oak and minerality. Nice! — 2 months ago
