Time for my #FridayCabernetfix. This week it's a nice Cabernet Franc from California.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Beautiful nose of black currants, cherries, dried figs, vanilla, cedar, licorice, spices, flowers, dark chocolates, black pepper and light earth.
Full-bodied and smooth with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with black plums, cherries, sweet strawberries, black currants, raspberries, wood, spices, chocolates, tobacco, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a great Cabernet Franc from Santa Ynez Valley, California.
Drinking very nicely now. Showing medium complexity with a nice, soft mouthfeel.
Good by itself as a sipping wine.
Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.
I had this vintage 6 months ago, and it is drinking better now. This 4 year old should drink nicely in the next few years.
I really loved the nose here. This is Interesting, tangy, enjoyable and delicious.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Sophisticated beyond its price, this vibrant, spicy midweight Chardonnay delivers a silky texture; inviting notes of yellow peach, pineapple, lemon zest, hazelnut and dusty wild herbs; and slowly building sweetness after an austere start. An element of saline minerality adds another dimension. $19.00 (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, July 2019) — 20 days ago
Perennial favorite. Wild strawberry, citrus, rhubarb, a bit of baking spice. Always good. — 3 days ago
This drinks perfectly at 11 years old. Definitely Jura reminiscent. A bit tight at first, tart lemon and rind. Then toasted marshmallow and burnt sugar, then some funk. Just brilliant. — 21 days ago
Dark red/purple color. Smells like both colors of licorice, dark blackberries, and good cherry cough syrup. Flavors are full and woodsy. Bit like wood stain covered pine. Has a bit of forest floor and barnyard. Thick boy. Bitter with plenty of oaky, smokey stuff to chew on. A good example of CA power packed Syrah. — 15 days ago
This Riberra is full of sun and power, lots of ripe black fruits, black cherries, plums, cassis, licorice, full body, round and lightly sweet, round tannins, long rich flavor , well done and goes wonderfully with grilled meat. My score 89, drink to 2023 — 18 days ago
This is a delight. A light strawberry hue leads to a nose of robust red fruits. As it warms of course it comes to life and expresses deeper flavors of cherries and even a bit, I THINK, of some lightly fleshy tobiko. Think that’s how you spell it. It’s opening beautifully, evolving into a richer/smoother, more lush display across the palate. Pick it up and try it if you can find it- in more ways than one, it’s in its own league. — 16 days ago
