Sat afternoon at home. Aromatic, tropical fruit nose. Very fresh on the palate, with satisfying tartness that accentuates how fresh it is. Slight salinity that gives it additional complexity.
The CX of Partida Creus is a real bombshell of freshness, a nose that plays on notes of white fruits, citrus, and aromatic herbs. Tart and funky on the palate, with a long finish. A super rare and super good wine.
Partida Creus is the project of two Italians now in residence in the Tarragona region of Catalonia, just south of Barcelona. The idea of the project was to work with historical, often overlooked local varietals that in many cases were not recognised by the D.O. of the area: Penedès. Massimo and Antonella strategically went about buying up small plots of abandoned vineyards dotted around the area where mostly unknown varietals such as Garrut, Vinyater, Samsó and Queixal de Llop grew. They sought to revitalise the vines and work out the best expression for these old varetals, working without chemicals in the vineyard and without selected yeasts or any other additions in the cellar. They make an impressively dizzying number of different wines, all of which are unified by a very distinctive house style - raw, visceral and pungent reds, and salty, turbid, expressive whites. As a couple they have an insatiable energy that really comes through in the wine.

It’s interesting to compare to Huet, though didn’t have them side by side. Chidaine kind of inhabits the mouth & palate, as if taking up residence: it’s so full & voluptuous.vibrating golden rod color, sunflowers. Waxy white & yellow stone fruits, with echoes of minerality. The fruit is dominant in its favor, I believe, but the half life could be so long can imagine a glorious tertiary & mineral future. I just can’t keep my paws off them long enough. — a year ago
Post House Cellars derives its name from the small Post Office used to serve the local missionary community of Raithby, now a winery office and residence. Name Missing Virgin refers to printing error on Virgin Island stamp, virgin figure was omitted. Blend of 70% Pinotage & 30% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of fruit and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blueberry and cinnamon with notes of wet earth. Medium+ finish, dusty fine tannins, ending with fruit, spice and earthy notes. — 2 years ago
As goth in residence I should alert you that aside from inevitable pheromones it is intellectual wine acumen that revs my motor. Ipso facto if brains turn you on, this Bandol will seduce you with its thoughtful rigor—it has its balance and complexity fine-tuned. Then pure sensual attributes (silky rhubarb/peach Melba joy/is that a bay leaf? And omg perhaps even a hint of allspice) are all guest speakers at the symposium. This wine has deep thoughts but is perky-goth enough to dance til at least 3am. Daylight may be too much though. — 4 years ago
Roots of Leflaive family go back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive took up residence in Puligny-Montrachet. Straw yellow color with rich stone fruits, floral and biscuit notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and ripe pear with citrus, biscuit notes and gentle spice, great mouthfeel. Long finish ending with fruit, vanilla and a mineral tang. Nice! — a year ago
Same wine, same restaurante (La Bodega) same score, same price (20€), different trip…still like this wine, might make it a house wine since we will soon be eating at our new Spain residence. — 2 years ago

2019 vintage. Medium body. Decent amount of oak present without overt, initial domination but with Hendrixian sustain/feedback. A spit of overripe red delicious apple swirling about + Persian lime and Meyer lemon. Hints of wet stone/minerals evident with a bit of sifting and sorting. Cushioned, sated finish on a 45-second, silken palate pillow. Personally, could use slightly more acidity in residence but this should maximum volume ready steady go for another decade. 01.19.25. — 2 months ago
