Valdobbiadene Superiore Extra Dry Prosecco

N: white flowers, ripe pears, hints of white peach w a squeeze of lemon
P: palate is creamy up front, with a light kiss of sweetness, but gives way to a mineraly finish that balances it all out.

Lovely with shrimp and butternut squash curry.

Ribolla di Farra

Opened the bottle and it smelled really musty like dank basement. Quick taste, alive with vibrant acidity, some fruitiness. An hour later, basement wearing off a bit. Palette comes alive here, long finish hour. Hour or so later, nose is abundant herbs like chamomile and mint, wet stone, Aegean citrus. So much going on before even touching the lips. Each sniff is it’s own thing. In the mouth the acidity hits you like it’s a lot. But there’s candied citrus with salty carmelized sugar glaze and some white peach. Not cuz it’s sweet, it’s not. Then the finish is like unsweetened mentos and lingers on the tongue for quite a while. Good find on sale at Astor. Now I gotta find more old ribolla. — 3 years ago

Col Credas Rive di Farra di Soligo Brut Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore

This prosecco is clear and pale lemon in colour.

The nose is clean and pronounced with aromas of pear, green apple, melon, peach, honeysuckle and acacia.

On the palate it is dry with high acid, low alcohol, medium body and a medium (+) intensity similar to that of the nose. It has a long finish and is very elegant.

I think this is an outstanding wine with well defined floral and fruity characters.
