Fermoy Estate

Reserve Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Herbal aromas (typically Margaret River) with Geranium Capsicum and a touch of menthol. Some green notes - medium weight. Savoury wins out over Cassis and black fruits. Not in the upper echelon of Margaret River Cabernet. Just a silver medal. We went to the Cellar Door some years ago and the story goes that the Reserve Cab was served at the wedding of Prince Frederick of Denmark to Sydney Real Estate agent Mary Donaldson originally from Tasmania now Crown Princess Mary and one day will become the Queen of Denmark. Fred is a keen sailor who was representing Denmark at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and they met at Sydney hotspot The Slip Inn where Fred was flashing his Black AMEX so the story goes and was captivated by Mary and the rest is history. — 10 months ago

Dominio de Pingus

Flor de Pingus Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2017

Produced by Peter Sisseck, of Denmark, arrived in Spain in 1993 to manage a new project and thought about the old vines around the Ribera del Duero. By the 1995 vintage, Peter had found ancient vineyards that inspired him to make "Pingus," after childhood nickname. Deep Ruby, concentrated dark fruit aromas with gently smoky notes. On the palate cherry and plum flavors, sweet vanilla spice, well balanced, soft warming tannins, long ending with slight oaky tones. Very Nice! — 10 days ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2004

Bought in Denmark in 2009. Cherry, tobacco, leather, splash of dirt . Great complexity and length which evolved in the mouth and over the 2 hours. Subtle tannins which arrive Kate. Great 15yo. 1 bottle left and should drink in next 1-2 years. — a year ago

Mikkeller

Nelson Sauvin Brut Belgian Wild Ale

French bubbling onion broth, with fungal asymmetry the partnering haberdasher’s cheese motif, and pictographs and hieroglyphic bubble letters the font-lacing. Caramel-orange and yeast with hibiscus and dried lotus slices. There is a peppermint coolness to the backnote and a clean, bok choy sweetness. Tastes of caramel and verdelho-Madeira, and lemon, orange and grapefruit interplay mutating into a cilantro and Vidalia, that ultimately return to the yeast, with marigold petals swimming in a malt and hop extravaganza. #mikkeller #nelsonsauvin #dryhopped #deproefbrouwerij #beer #bier #birra #biere #cerveza — 9 months ago
