Freemark Abbey Bordeaux blend from various Napa vineyards. 1 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). An exquisite dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: captivating notes of black fruit, cassis, sandlewood, espresso, vanilla oak. Taste: silky, elegant, creamy wine with dark cherry, coffee, dark chocolate, cedar, and a spiced vanilla tar medium plus finish. YUM! Drinks well with the decant and probably has another good eight years left in the tank. — 7 months ago

2020 vintage. Once part of the huge Soutard estate, this Château was known as Petit Faurie de Souchard until 1969. In the 1922 edition of Cocks & Feret, it was considered as first growth quality and stylistically somewhere in between the great wines of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. As in January 2014, it was bought by the Dassault family, it was expected to be incorporated into Dassault, but that doesn't seem to be the plan. Attractive perfume of red fruit, cuberdon, flowers, and spicy oak. Lush, with good depth and concentration, fresh acidity and a long, spicy finish. Very good value. Abv. 14,5%. — 7 months ago

Gosh, this was good. This wine embodied everything so wonderful about old Bordeaux, that balance of power, concentration, grace, elegance and, most notably here, freshness. This had spice, dried meats and macerated cherries alongside the tertiary notes of forest floor and cedar wood. Impeccably balanced on the palate, it improved throughout the two hours I spent drinking it and is another wonderful example of the 1989 vintage. — 5 months ago
