Clos Saint Jean

Deus Ex Machina Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2008

In a great place right now! — 5 days ago

Los Frionnes Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Lyle Fass
9.2

Wow, unreal pure deep cherry fruit and a tiny dollop of Va that blows off in 20 junkies. Citrus concentrate as well. Unreal nose. So expressive. Just singing. Floral. Mineral. And that 2015 sunshine style fruit. Palate is pure., deep and juicy but is showing maybe 5% of what it can be. There are mineral/limestone dusty tannins. That are long and elegant along with a nice blast of fruit at the very very end. My score will go up as these morel reds need mega mega air to show as they should. I’ll be back. — 14 days ago

Typically CNDP with spices (cinnamon, laurel), a little barnyard funk and glycerine. Still tight because of age but well balanced. Double decanted to shred off the rough edges. — 13 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2016

Elegant nose with black current, plum and black raspberry fruit with accents of graphite and tamari. Palate shows high toned cassis, plum and pomegranate fruit with sweet fruit tannins and energetic, zesty acidity. Mineral driven berry fruit tones dominate the finish. So precisely balanced that it is throughly enjoyable now but demonstrates the potential for and easy 7 to 10 years of development. — 9 days ago

Les Fairendes Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Chardonnay 2005

In the zone. Not chiseled and not flabby. Nicely in between. White flowers, a hint of stone fruit. Full and delicious. — 2 days ago

Vieilles Vignes Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Terrific Sancerre. Deep and lively. Nose has gorgeous crushed limestone dust minerality and mouthwatering lemony acids surrounding ripe gooseberry. Minimal grassiness. Full-flavored and weightier in the mouth than many, it’s got very nice acids to keep it fresh, however. Long, minerally finish. — 8 days ago

Riotous flavor and aroma. Classic syrah, cracked black pepper, blackberry, confectionary cream and candy notes, wild bramble, bacon. About as great a value northern rhone as I can think of. — 9 days ago

Pop and pour. On the nose: lemon, lychee, lovely minerality and soft vanilla and ginger. On the palate: fantastic acidity. wet stone, lemon oil, candied ginger. and good weight on a long, tangy, juicy finish. Fantastic. — 14 days ago
