Vin de Pays des Pyrénees-Orientales Iglesia Vella Grenache Gris 2017

Intensely mineral. Green apple. Faint petrol. Exactly what I want from a Grenache Gris/blanc. Pair with oysters. — an hour ago

Gran descubrimiento vino con carácter pero nobleza sobre paladar. Romántico rojo rubi al ojo del buen conocedor. — 3 years ago

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 1979

This is the oldest wine I’ve ever tried. The cork was in great shape and so was the wine! The nose was a little raisin-y and balsamic-y but the palate was absolutely beautiful. Faded fruits and delicate pencil shavings and light black pepper. Very much a tertiary flavor profile wine. A treat to drink this with friends and so amazed that this holds up so well 44 years later. Paired with Ropa Vieja. — 2 years ago

Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

First centenarian. Smooth and not overly sweet despite the long aging. Reminiscent of a nice Tawny port. Would drink again, if I could find one! — 4 years ago

La Rioja Alta

Reserva Viña Ardanza Rioja Tempranillo Garnacha 2015

Very exciting wine from Rioja Alta. Smooth and medium bodied blend of Tempranillo and garnacha. Excellent with ropa vieja and black beans and rice with yuca. Wow, out of this world. — 2 years ago

Poggio Cerrino Rosso Di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

A little angry, lean and uneven to start. Needed a night after being open to calm down and integrate. A relaxed rosso drinks better: strawberry, black cherry, red plum, licorice and herbs. I love the classic profile. I never thought I’d say this, but I don’t love the aggressive acidity - probably the result of a cool and difficult vintage - that is waging war with my stomach lining. This lean wine needs food. I’d suggest something richer and fattier than the Ropa Vieja (night 1) and Amy’s frozen vegetarian lasagna (night 2). — 4 years ago
