It may lead with VA and reduction but that animal energy—it’s a turn on, particularly once I braced myself and sipped and the acetaldehyde (bruised apples and hay anyone?) gave way to white peppered honeydew melon. Those tannins borne of skin contact hold you down in just the right way. It is kinetic. It is not elegant but brutally graceful in its irreverence. It cares not about you, but is so compelling you care not, you’re along for the ride. — 4 years ago

Popped and poured; consumed over three days and probably best on Day 1 though Day 3 didn’t exactly suck either; I think it depends on what what you’re looking for. The 2009 AR.PE.PE. Grumello “Sant’Antonio” pours a bright garnet color with a translucent core. On the nose, effusive notes of ripe red and dark fruits, roses and tar. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Elegant. Savory. Gorgeous. Confirming the notes on the nose. This girl be classy and oooh, she got some real hips! This Nebbiolo is all about finesse and I am here for it! Drink now and through 2029. — 2 years ago
Light, refreshing, easy drinking. Recommend! Perfect for celebrations or every day drinking. It super light, crisp, fresh, light bodied with just enough sweetness to go down easy. I love it!
Color: A very light yellow color like chamomile tea.
Aroma: It's a light aroma but it's hard to smell bubbles.
Taste: It's super light and refreshing. There'd not any strong flavors coming through, making it very easy to drink. It's not too sweet, not too tart, just absolutely smooth and refreshing and easy to drink. It's 11.5% and you won't know you're drinking so fast! Absolutely delicious! — 3 years ago
This aged really well. I had a bottle a few years ago that tasted unintegrated. This one was excellent with great balance, integration intensity of fruit and primary and secondary complexity. Great value! Wish I had bought more of it. — 5 years ago

2020/8/10 at Sant Pau in Tokyo. The bouquet on opening was something else - I haven’t had a wine, and certainly not an old bottle, with such an intense perfume in a long time. The palate followed - still very rich and balanced. It had that slightly cheesy old classic Rioja note, but with more depth and freshness than is common. Over time, it lightened a bit, but was still a remarkable bottle - about as good a Rioja as anyone could hope to meet. — 5 years ago
Sant’ Agnese, Tuscany, IT. 1st wine served on tour. I thought it had fuller body than more expensive wines served subsequently. — 5 years ago

We opened this beautiful Cava, the 2020 Ravantós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia Extra Brut Cava Rose. From Catalonia Sant Sadurni D'Anoia, Spain. A blend of 44% Xarel-lo, 39% Macabeo, 12% Parellada and 5% Monastrell.
On the nose is strawberry, lemon, white peach, lime peel, almond and a bit of minerality.
On the palate there is strawberry, citrus, lemon, lime peel, tarragon, hazelnut, yellow apple and minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with an onion skin color with a bone dry mouthfeel medium + to high acidity that leaves us with a long fresh citrus wet rock finish. At $23 you can't go wrong. This will hang with the best sparkling wines. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend please stay safe and healthy heading into this week ahead. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 2 years ago
