Highlands Forty One

Pisoni Vineyards

Estate Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2011

So a muted Pinot flavor. I want to say a hint of effervescence but that’s not really true. It’s the acidity showing itself a bit more than it has in other bottles or due the food we had (spicy)... It’s distracting me a bit from the other flavors. The nose is different. I don’t want to say smoke but something is different on this one. — a month ago

Black Granite Paso Robles Red Blend 2021

Smooth finish, medium bodied. would take to a dinner party. Notes of bold berries. Barrel reserve select bottle. Fun wine at a decent price for repeated consumption. — 4 months ago

Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

Oh boy, how do I handle this wine. Having it young was too intense to drink, having at some point later seemed to be over the hill but now thinking that was a flawed bottle. This one was excellent with a ton of dark fruits mainly blackberries, plumbs and others. Also, had some cola and wood notes. Excellent from start to the long finish. Think it could go for some more years but why bother when drinking so great now. This is my last bottle and that’s fine since I’m an old guy and can’t be buying expensive wines that you need to hold for 10 plus years — 7 months ago

Sparkling Brut Cuvée Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay 2016

The new 2016 just released. I love their sparkling wines. It’s truly one of the best if not the best domestic sparking wines. — 3 years ago

Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Delectable Wine
9.6

Hailing from one of the premier sites in the Santa Lucia Highlands, planted in 1996, the 2022 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is flat-out gorgeous. Beautifully rendered, it boasts generous fruit density, crystal-clear delineation of flavors and bracing structure. Fully destemmed, the 2022 finishes with a ton of persistence in its dark berry flavors, even darker cherry, black licorice and black sage. The 2022 leaves behind a fine web of powdery tannins, neatly wrapped up with a little bow on top, concentrated, effusive, and ready to rock. What a complete package. This may be the red wine of the vintage in the SLH. (Billy Norris, Vinous, August 2024)

Grand Reserve Lot# 80 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2021

Quite lush for a pinot (at least the ones I drink)… crayon, clay, blackberry, orange peel, baking spices like clove and cinnamon … a little herbaceous branch … if I didn’t know better I’d say this was a Rioja. Honestly a little shocked. Great deal at TJ’s. 92?

NEED TO GET DELECTABLE TO ADD A NEW ENTRY FOR THIS LOT #, this listing isn’t the right one.

Miner Family

Rosella's 777 Pinot Noir 2018

18’ Miner Rosella’s Pinot . Color resembles a ruby/purple. Nose fresh picked strawberries, cranberry, brown sugar mist. Opened it over a week ago and threw the cork on it. Still a full -bodied beast of a Pinot. Strong cherry, red berry flavors to it, sassafras, slightly non-expressive finish. Can’t miss if you’re patient for another year or two. One of if not the best thing I’ve enjoyed from Miner. Cheers! Wait another 2/3 years / decanting for 2 hours +. — 2 years ago
