Hawley Winery Old Vine Zinfandel 2016, Mendocino County, California
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.
Showing sweet cherries, blueberries, raspberries, light oak, licorice, cola, chocolates, coffee, spices, light mildew and black pepper.
Medium length on the finish with soft tannins and bitter herbs.
This 8 year old Zinfandel from Mendocino County is still drinking nicely, although on its way out.
The high alcohol is nicely integrated by now. Showing some mildew notes at this point.
Good by itself as a sipping wine.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
