Greer

Greer

Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Captivating nose on opening, with rich floral and dark fruit tones wafting from the bottle as soon as I pull the cork. This seems to be at peak for my palate. The tannins lay out a fine blanket on which the black cherry, black raspberry, and faint brown spice notes strut their stuff. There’s a pleasing old leather element in the finish, which just rolls on and on. This was my first Greer and I’m smitten. Fantastic wine. — 10 days ago

Just picked up a ‘12 that I plan to open when my youngest graduates from high school in two years. Her road has been a rough one, through no fault of her own, so we’ll have lots to celebrate when that day comes.

James Cole

Mud's Kitchen Clone #7 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

While the Greer takes a long nap, this beauty is ready to pop & pour,
2nd bottle of the James Cole experiment, single Vineyard this time. I’m liking this over the blend by a couple points.

Marston Family Vineyard

Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

2 hour decant. I really like Marston wines. This still was young but continued to evolve in glass. While there is beautiful fruit here, there's also a minerality to this wine that I really like (usually when I hear minerality used to describe a wine I avoid - but it's subtle here). Had this after Greer - a tough act to follow - but I thoroughly enjoyed this and am glad we have some more to try again soon. — 4 years ago

Tough for any wine to follow Greer. We had an 05 Marston last week- it was excellent!

Edward Lewis Cellars

Pretty Woman Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Jeb 97,
90% Cabernet with some CF & Petit Verdot
Out of the trunk tasting,
Not a fruit bomb, definitely has 20-25 years of aging potential like the Beau Vigne Reserve, Ed Sniders last winery
Even though it was only $75.00 I’d store it with the Sodhani & Greer for a couple years before opening another one

Reserve St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Off the truck,
Have 3 bottles so I needed to see what I should do with other the other 2, definitely keepers Give it 4 hours or multiple years.
Thomas Rivers Brown is the winemaker,
Thanks
@David T for the recco,
This one & the Greer are more in line with Shafer & Pritchard hill wines that are in need of 10 years,
Interesting note is that these grapes were going to Harlan Estate before the new owners decided to keep the fruit for their wine.
Located on western slopes that face east🤔? So they cool sooner than western exposed hillsides which factors into acid development, all according to Napawineproject.com

Space And Time Chateauneuf-Du-Pott Vineyard Red Blend 2015

Simply amazing! This bottle made the Greer and Bevan seem old world and herbal by comparison. Dark fruit, chocolate, and everything turned up to 11! — 2 months ago

The Black Aces

George III Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Mike R
9.7

@delectable this is not the reserve but a new wine called Black Aces and this is totally off the hook

GIII fruit made by V29 winemaker and this is incredible

Intoxicating smells - big inviting and lingers on

The color was amazing - what can I say but dark dark reddish purple and swirl in the glass you will see the film on the glass

Tasting is two fold - first is a sip to make sure the smell is confirmed but the 2nd is right after the initial approval - omg - damn near perfect - I think only 50 cases made so damn glad I got a few

The palette was dancing as I tried it and the finish was sooooooo loooooong - wow I counted 45 seconds

Bravo Jason, Tim Gleason and Cam Ward - 2016 will be your breakout year

Still smiling this morning

By the way it was great even without a long decent and I just know about 3-4 years of rest this baby might even score higher than my 9.7 which out of 900 wines I have posted I give this score or higher to only 3% of the wines which makes this is a remarkable new wine entry - to Greer fans - I think you will really like
