In 1879, 2 brothers decided to set up a wine business, C.V.N.E., Compañía Vinicola del Norte de España (Northern Spanish Wine Company) or la Cuné, as it is commonly known in Haro, created and still kept in traditional neighborhood of Haro station today. Deep Ruby with ripe berry aromas/complex spices, 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo. Palate shows blackberry, cherry, sweet currant with herb, leather, oak & pepper spice. Fine tannins, well balanced good depth & structure, long finish, nice value! — 15 days ago
If you are a sweet wine drinker this one is for you, very good. A little sweeter than expected. — 8 months ago
From the Great Friends Pondering Great BDX series. Fresh as a daisy and generally preferred over the ‘88. It was mentioned that this year had greater acidity, which given the freshness makes good sense. This could seemingly go another 20 years without issue. — 7 months ago
Great. An Imperial. Good stuff. — 11 days ago
Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘17 estate reserve. I have to be honest. I liked the regular ‘17 better than the ‘17 estate reserve at this point in their lifecycle. I think the estate reserve is built for greater longevity and will race past the regular ‘17 in a few years but it was still a bit wound up. 94% CS, 6% petite Verdot. This wine was the most tannic of the night and had the biggest mouth feel. It coated your teeth with big fruit and tannins that were not as subtle as the other wines we tasted tonight. As these mellow out this wine will get better and better. Notes of cocoa and spice linger through the long finish. There were subtleties in this wine that will emerge with time. Put this away for 3-5 years and revisit it when it has had time to mellow a bit. — 3 months ago
One of the 2017 I’ve had that has showed really well. This was opened for awhile before presented.
I would range this 93-94 after another 5-7 years in bottle with an outside chance at a 95 after 10 plus years in bottle. This 2017 will last 20 years from birth properly stored.
This Addax has gorgeous texture and mouthfeel. It’s round, velvety, silky, big & lush. Tannins already round & soft. The structure, tension, balance & length are good now and show greater promise. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, some blue & purple fruits, dark chocolate, mocha, caramel, sweet tarriness, expresso roast, well layered baking spices; cinnamon, light nutmeg, clove & vanilla. Light dry crushed rocks & volcanics, soft leather, saddle-wood, fresh tobacco notes, hints of graphite, some dry brush, anise with beautiful fresh; dark, red & purple florals. The acidity is excellent & round. The big, lush, ruby, elegant, well balanced & knitted finish is beautiful across the palate. Solid experience wire to wire. — 6 months ago
Popped yesterday, basically to.taste today, but this was spectacular yesterday as well. Today...on the nose: spicy wild strawberry, an absolutely intoxicating perfume, cinnamon, soft musk, spice..but the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. On the palate: good acidity, wild strawberry with spice, soft va, very finely grained tannin on the juicy and spicy finish. — a month ago
I like this better than the CVNE Imperial line. This seems not quite as heavily oaked. Good balance of fruit and oak (2014 vintage). Not quite as good as Faustino I Gran Reserva (2009). — 5 months ago
Plush, ripe fruit-forward Zinfandel from Napa Valley.
This wine is deep ruby. It has pronounced intensity of youthful aromas. The aromas include primary notes of ripe black cherry, strawberry, blackberry preserves, and black plum sauce. Also, secondary notes of cedar, vanilla, coconut, and nutmeg. And tertiary notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and tobacco.
On the palate this wine is dry although it has some discernible residual sugar. It has medium acidity, a medium(+) body, high alcohol, medium(+) tannins, and pronounced intensity in concentrated flavors. Flavors include primary notes of ripe black cherry, strawberry, blackberry preserves, and black plum sauce. Also, secondary notes of cedar, vanilla, coconut, and nutmeg. And tertiary notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and tobacco. The finish is medium(+).
This wine has good balance, length, and intensity. It could improve with greater complexity.
This is a very good wine that is ready for consumption now. — 5 months ago
