Love it. Light on the palate. Good length. Smokey fruit. Tannins that pull it all together. — 8 months ago

Double Negative Imperial Stout 2021

Very good imperial stout. Excellent flavors and some dried cherry with bitter chocolate at the end cleanse the palate. Not on the same level as Jackie O’s or perennial or prairie. — 2 years ago

👄 This wine is dry and medium bodied. The acidity is high. The alcohol is medium. This wine has pronounced intensity of flavors including tart green apple, lemon peel, lime, apricot, passion fruit, gooseberry, wet stone, and honeysuckle. The finish is medium(+).
.
.
Quality of this wine is very good. It is very good because it has strong balance of acidity and fruit characteristics. It has a good length and intensity of aromas. It could be improved with greater complexity and tertiary flavor development that would increase the honeyed and dried fruit flavor potential. This wine may be consumed now, but will benefit from more time in the bottle.

Domaine Maume

Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Gorgeous, flinty nose with hint of barnyard. Grippy tannins. Hint of coffee and soy sauce after 3 hours. Almost Valentini Cerasuolo-ish. Imperial Treasure Teochew Ion with Andrew Dutton.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There I was suggesting that Maume's Mazis-Chambertin 2011 was clearly not the pick from the domaine this vintage and lo and behold, it trumps all in a blind tasting. It has quite an earthy note on the nose with mint-tinged red fruit and black plum unfurling at its own leisurely pace in the glass. Later, this is joined by fennel and rosemary scents, creating an intriguing aromatics profile. The palate is medium-bodied, a touch foursquare on the entry, but with good substance, the texture grainy and quite peppery toward the finish. There is a lot going on in this grand cru and it will be fascinating to see how it develops and if it maintains this stellar quality. RP95, 2011, issued Nov 2014

Domaine Chavy-Chouet

Les Folatières Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

Fantastic wine. Second bottle. First was oxidised sadly. Took it back to the merchant Imperial Wine Company in Bungay uk who replaced it for free! Had it with scallops with chilli dressing followed by hake with garlic butter. Heaven! Deep yellow. Honeyed complex with hint of mineralogy. Long and rounded. Very very good. Will buy some more.? — 4 years ago

@Plate&bottle

Beautiful dark & mid red fruits with floral heaven. Both this wines are a yin & yang heaven with this dish.

Stupendous flavors built into this dish by Chef Hedy. Richness with great seasoning.

If you live in & around the greater Bay Area, you owe to yourself to attend one of the dinners Hedy holds 4-5 times a year. Not only is the food amongst the very best we had, the people that attend and environment are as equally good. Find Hedy @Plate&Bottle

Cune Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2014

I like this better than the CVNE Imperial line. This seems not quite as heavily oaked. Good balance of fruit and oak (2014 vintage). Not quite as good as Faustino I Gran Reserva (2009). — 3 years ago

.
👃 This wine has a clean nose and a pronounced intensity of aromas. The aromas are developing and include ripe black cherry, black cassis preserves, baked blackberry, plum sauce, violet, anise, molasses, vanilla, cinnamon, and cedar.

👄 On the palate, this wine is dry, with high alcohol. It is full-bodied with medium acidity. This wine has medium(+) tannins and a pronounced intensity of flavors. The flavors on the palate are consistent with the nose, including, black cherry, black cassis preserves, baked blackberry and plum, as well as, anise, licorice, earth, molasses, vanilla, and cedar. This wine has a long finish.
.
.
This wine is very good. It offers complexity in aromas and flavors spanning primary (from the grape and alcoholic fermentation), secondary (from post-alcoholic-fermentation processes, like oak aging) and tertiary (from bottle age and maturation) categories. The balance could be improved with greater acidity. This wine may be consumed now, but has potential for additional aging, given the strong tannins and overall structure. It may become even more complex, soften, and become more elegant with additional time in the bottle.
