Great structure, nice body, chewy, with verve. Earthy and savory, baked clay, underbrush, smoke and menthol. Just a tad austere. More generous fruit would have elevated this.
It hit another level on day 2, with the flavors crystallizing and more dried fruit, coffee, and milk chocolate coming on. Complex, food friendly and delish! — 4 years ago
BT tasting wine. Really nice GSM-style blend from Chile. — 6 months ago
Still reliable. $32 at Costco ! — 7 months ago
Nose of tart fruit and spice which shows up in the palate as well. Silky tannins that take a little time to build up. Easy to drink for a medium bodied red. It's holding up well to hearty spicy chilli, and the spice of the food is letting the fruit show more through the spice notes of the wine. Curious to see how it develops when I have some tomorrow. — 6 months ago
Very smooth and easy to drink. Had some hard candy notes on the nose and taste. — 2 years ago
I bought this for the winter months and finished the last of it over the weekend. This is a blended malt named in honour of Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese Whisky. He was the first Japanese who mastered Whisky making in Scotland and brought this expertise back to Japan. It was an incredibly pure and rich Whisky with a certain smokiness. I don’t drink enough Whisky to know the difference but this could easily have been Scotch to my palate. 43% ABV. — 4 years ago

It's Blanton's, proofed up to 103. Being a single barrel, Blanton's is consistently good but not consistently great. This bottle is well above average. It smells and tastes like something from the Van Winkle bourbon lineup. Dark cherry, apricot, leather, cigar box. Much more pleasing than last years bottle. I thought the Gold used to be in a skinnier 700ml bottle, but this is 750ml. Maybe I'm losing it 🤔
