Fire Island Pines

Goose Island

Bourbon County Brand Mon Chéri Stout

Midnight black with an espresso hood that fades to impenetrable darkness. Leaving trails of fallen stars for lacing, cueing fiery gas dragons of unctuous mirage. Black molasses and treacle coil about sticky cherry reductions, curled claws of darkest chocolate and shadowy espresso. Warm smoke of charred barrel pops from the gooey depths of this imposing cauldron. Alas the treat! Dark, pure chocolate with a spike of candied cherry turns bitter and evasive as it storms headlong into the ashes of the night on a broomstick of gnarled oak imperial; fire spitting cinders in its billowing wake. Black arts at play!

Ghost Pines

Winemaker's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon

Beautiful color.......deep burgundy base with a fire red rim. Very pleasant, earthy aroma. Starts off smooth, then goes Smokey with a mild yet surprising sour finish. Very happy with this wine. — 3 years ago

Kindeli

Verano Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2019

The Kindeli wines from Alex Craighead require at least a decent understanding of natural wine and wine faults. These are beautifully crafted rustic wines usually polarized by oxidation or reduction. Verano is of the latter group, a fire cracker red blend of aromatic whites, all unrecognizable and heavily influenced by native yeast and mild to moderate skin contact. It has a grainy matzah meal aroma that mixes to concentrated tart citrus - full bodied, all full of sunshine too. — 4 years ago

I’ve known Scott for a few years—such a great guy. I used to go to High Street all the time, but became a financial partner (small percentage :)) in a natural wine bar here called Little Death—so I do most of my shopping/drinking there now.

Hillersden

Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

Oaky smokey nose with strawberries and cherries, charred marshmallow, with afternotes of forest leaves. I'd suddenly love to have cherried s'mores by the summer fire on cool misty fall eve! Incredible light and clarity. Palate in coordinance with bouquet. Earthed in a way unexpected for the region. Delicious and earthed to compete with Willamette, yet has the sun bakiness of Santa Barbara. The perfect more intense Burgundian marriage of these two regions. Long long finish with high acidity and striking abundance. Makes me want to dance in the rain. — 6 years ago
