Golden State Cider

Apple Brandy

Snagged this on a drive up the CA coast with Turd Ferguson. Big apple pie nose, toasted oak, caramel apple, some heat. Pays d’Auge it isn’t, but a pretty enjoyable expression worth the $40. — 3 years ago

False. I brought a bottle of that to C&A’s the Sunday after Zach’s wedding. You had a glass. 🤓

Estate Grown Walla Walla Valley Merlot 2017

The 2017 ‘Walla Walla Valley’ Merlot is sourced in equal parts from the Seven Hills Vineyard and Ferguson Vineyard. Needing an hour in the decanter to be fully aroused, once awoken you experience dark currants and sandalwood aromatics, woven together with with shades of milk chocolate and roasted figs. The palate is fresh and vibrant with intense tannins that collide with the core of dark fruits, espresso bean and violets on the palate. With incredible tension and solid viscosity, this sturdy Merlot will enjoy a long life in the cellar. Drink 2022-2035- 93 — 4 years ago

Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2018

This was so good. If I were going to narrow a singular profile of Chardonnay that I enjoy the most, this is the example and it more closely resembles Oregon or Burgundy than California. Crisp, minerals, lemon curd, striking an excellent balance between acidity and oak. At 13% abv it sits in the mouth with far less weight than Napa Chardonnay but with similar characteristics. I didn’t even know Hirsch made Chardonnay. Sonoma coast FTW- I’ll meet you there this summer @Turd Ferguson — a year ago

Ferguson Commemorative Reserve Red Blend 2013

Smooth and sophisticated, this wine has excellent balance of fruits and acidity, with a hint of spice and pepper. The oak is sparingly applied so the flavors really pop. — 2 years ago

Hi Jonathan, I was laid low by long COVID (PACS) for a couple of years. My mental faculties are only now fully returning. I am back! 😼

Paul, Really sorry to hear that and glad you pulled through! Wine can be a nice recovery enjoyment. Hopefully your sense of smell and taste has come back. I had a fortunate quick fight with COVID but my sense of smell took a hit for a while… elegant and subtle wines don’t do it for me anymore… hahaha. Glad to have you back!
