The 2017 ‘Walla Walla Valley’ Merlot is sourced in equal parts from the Seven Hills Vineyard and Ferguson Vineyard. This was so good. If I were going to narrow a singular profile of Chardonnay that I enjoy the most, this is the example and it more closely resembles Oregon or Burgundy than California. Crisp, minerals, lemon curd, striking an excellent balance between acidity and oak. At 13% abv it sits in the mouth with far less weight than Napa Chardonnay but with similar characteristics. I didn’t even know Hirsch made Chardonnay. Sonoma coast FTW- I’ll meet you there this summer @Turd Ferguson — 3 years ago
