Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

This extremely young Napa Cabernet is big and tannic.

Fruit forward and already complex, with black fruits and chocolate notes.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

Needs many years to mature properly.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

Di Costanzo

Classic Di Costanzo — a delicious, slightly lighter cab. Relatively low tannin, crisp and clear. Could probably have used some more air before drinking. It tasted more similar than different to me vs the Farella Vineyard. Looking forward to drinking again. $105 - $125? — 2 years ago

Stunned at the quality and precision of this wine. If you haven’t already, you really need to. — 3 months ago

Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Coombsville is an exciting AVA within Napa for cool climate Cab. The Farella vineyard shows a more herbaceous side than most others from the valley floor. The nose has eucalyptus, violets, and fresh wild berries. Full bodied, ripe tannins, robust structure. Very well made Napa Cab. — 2 years ago

Another great cab from Di Costanzo. I get more mineral and less fruit in this one than the Farella. Almost like an Italian-style wine. — 3 years ago

Coombsville Merlot 2016

Everytime I taste this wine, I’m reminded of just how much I love Merlot. When done right.

A medium purple hue with pretty lavender edges. The nose is expressive and inviting and just plain marvelous. Blackberry jam with a dollop of chocolate mousse. Dried herbs with smoke and earth. Floral notes just for good measure.

We all know and mostly love Merlot but we’re all used to big clunky examples. This is not that. Suave, svelte, and sensational. That Coombsville fruit is shining. Rich without cumbersome heft, deep without unnecessary heat. Cherries and plums on the palate with a welcome touch of earthiness. The finish is long and lusty. My favorite Merlot.

Cutt Fearless Red Blend 2018

Just a small blend of dry creek zin, kick ranch syrah, farella merlot, malbec, cab, and of course Pinot. Easy drinking wine for summer sipping. Baking spices come out in full force on opening but mellow out with some air — 3 years ago
