The mid week special , this is a quality burgundy that doesn’t break the bank. I love it for what it is. Decent terroir, not crazy rich or complex but a solid drink. I seem to go through these awfully fast — 4 years ago
A Chardonnay I like! Super crisp, refreshing and delicious. — 6 years ago
I am amazed how the Saarloos & Sons Syrahs are so different from one another with each geography being so close....the LB Syrah from the Fatman is a perfect representation of Windmill Ranch — 7 years ago
To start the weekend I have opened the 2013 Gilbert Cellars Columbia Valley Left Bank Red Blend. This homage to the classical Left Bank Bordeaux even though Carmenere isn't used in a Bordeaux these days but years ago it was part of the blend. This blend is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Carmenere, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot.
The nose has good dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, red raspberry, black pepper, licorice, charcoal, graphite, violet, some alcohol, and crushed gravel.
On the palate there are notes of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, black currant, green bell pepper, cassis, vanilla, and wet slate.
This wine is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity, medium + grippy fine tannins and a long balanced finish. Have a safe weekend and enjoy family. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷 — 9 years ago
Nice big bold wine... Great value! And I love the story behind it. — 10 years ago

I really enjoyed this Chardonnay and found it to be much more enjoyable than previous vintages. The 2015 features more floral notes of pineapple and tropical fruit that is balanced with crisp acidity with a dry but long finish. 2014 seemed to be a little unbalanced and was a little overwhelming with Granny Smith apple and high acidity that was just a little much. This year has been brought back into balance. — 10 years ago
Vintage 2021 | I don’t like the name of the wine, because it is obvious it will lead to confusion by consumers. I bought this in a selection of wines from a Belgian wineseller. All these wines were what you can call ‘middle of the road’. All of these wines were very quaffable. This wine is extreme quaffable and gives loads of pleasure. Lush and fruity. You immediately want another sip, and a new glass. Carignan 35 Grenache 35 Syrah 20 Mourverdre 10 6 months barrel aging Very good effort is the conclusion. — 2 years ago
Dard fruits, cherries, some vanilla and liquorice. The palate is amazing as usual for this great wine that I love, some power and class at the same time, balance and energetic fruit with that deliciously long finish.
— 6 years ago
Picq rocks. Literally. An underrated producer. The VV is intense. Packed with material. Almost oily in its intensity. Almost too unctuous for a typical Chablis. I like. — 6 years ago
Very nice dry Gewürztraminer. After revisiting tonight, I was not as taken by it as the first time but still excellent. Very low RS, light straw yellow color with light to medium body, melon and white peach nose (didn't get as much lychee this time). Balanced fruit and acid with a clean finish. — 10 years ago
My personal wine bliss. Older than my drinking buddy, and WAY older than me. 1978 was clearly a good year, at least for Remoissenet 'Dad & Sons'. Sleepy, fungi at first then...wait for it, wait for it...here comes the body, the fruit, the earth..don't stop, don't stop! Eddie Gilbert, I love you for opening this wine for me! — 10 years ago

Wife says this wine is strong. Not what I expected from Sauv blanc but I think I like it. The age probably helps. — 4 years ago
20211231. I do not think I can enjoy Lambrusco out of Italy. — 5 years ago
52% Mourvèdre 48% Grenache. Pale yellow white (no pink? Arguably, no), excellent clarity. I get strawberry, melon and stone fruit aromas but the label says rose petal aromatics, which is in the ballpark. Good acidity, not quite bone dry, mostly peach and citrus flavors with a strawberry aftertaste. Slight to moderate skin astringency, a minor flaw for me but otherwise quite nice for a dry Rosé — 6 years ago
Enjoyable wine. Rating it a 9 when I can get it during the 50% wine night at J Gilbert for $49. If it was $70+ I would rate it a 8.9 — 8 years ago
Solid gsm. Grenache dominant gives it a fruitier edge and softer tannic body. Lightly arromatic, brighter red fruit dominates, with a decent spice note in mid palette (Mourvedre is 27%, so go figure). This is an easy sipper and, to me, a little more like a typical French gsm. I think I prefer the Mourvedre dominant gsm blends coming out of Rotie, B. Leighton Cellars, and elsewhere, but i might just be weird. :) — 10 years ago
Fresh, crisp, savory, with a bouncing streak of fine tannin. Exactly what I needed on a warm afternoon with squid salad and housemade sausage. Pinot noir of real character but also true elegance. — 10 years ago
Finally got a chance to try the Malbec and I was not disappointed. There was plenty of dark, brooding, brambly fruit with with a touch of peppery spice. Well structured with fine grained tannins and a mouth coating full body in good balance. More defined than most South American Malbecs I've had but also carries a made in America price tag of $30 so not quite as much bang for your buck but still a good value. — 10 years ago
