2016 vintage. The Jaboulet whites seem to have improved spectacularly under the Caroline Frey reign, as demonstrated by this amazing 2016. Light golden colour. Intense complex perfume of quince, pear, pineapple and lemon confit, intertwined with floral and mineral notes. In the mouth it is powerful and refined at the same time, with layers of fruit and spices, balanced by an attractive almondy bitterness. Impressively long mineral finish. Abv. 14%. — 4 years ago
2015 vintage Volnay, Château Corton C. Caroline Frey strikes again. This is textbook Volnay, with bright cherry fruit, elegance, precision and an unexpected complexity and length for a Villages wine. Absolutely gorgeous. Abv 13%. — 4 years ago
2020 vintage. Jaboulet is on a high ever since Caroline Frey took over, as exemplified by this bright, energetic entry level white Crozes-Hermitage. Highly recommended. — 4 years ago
2017 vintage. I am less familiar with Jaboulet's whites, but this is excellent. Hard to find the right information on this wine, apparently a 50/50 Marsanne Roussanne blend. The back label states it's whole clusters fermented partially in egg-shaped concrete vats, whereas some critics mention wood-fermentation. In any case the wine is drop-dead gorgeous. Captivating nose with ripe yellow prunes, flowers and brioche. Concentrated with layers of white stone fruit and more exotic hints of pineapple, fresh herbs and an impressively long aftertaste. They say wines reflect the owner/winemaker. In this case I believe Caroline Frey can live with the adjectives "intense", "complex" and "graceful". Well worth the price tag — 6 years ago

Wine - it can take you places. Last night reminiscing about recent Paris travels so I pulled this beaute to enjoy with a friend. @55Seventy
Chateau La Lagune is located in the appellation of Haut-Medoc. This House was classified as a Third Growth in 1855. It was sold to the Frey family in 2000. The winemaker/owner, Caroline Frey, produced her first vintage in 2004. Her wines are described as having finesse, elegance and harmony. The 2010 is a blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.

This wine is rich and bold, but not in your face. It has been described as being incredibly sexy and full-bodied. I can’t disagree. This wine makes me want to learn more about the Northern Rhône wines.
Fact: Jaboulet Hermitage was purchased by Caroline Frey family in 2006 (the Frey family also owns Chateau La Lagune). I really love Chateau La Lagune.
And there is no doubt that this wine is best paired with Miles Davis Kind of Blue on the turntable. Prove me wrong. — 4 years ago
2015 vintage. From an estate bought in 2014, Caroline Frey (also La Lagune and Jaboulet) makes her mark with this Auxey-Duresses. In an appellation where rusticity is the norm, this is very elegant, with bright red cherry fruit, velvety tannin and very good length. Affordable for Burgundy. Abv. 13,5%. — 4 years ago
“All my wines tells a story” is quoted by Caroline Frey and the back label, and I do Iove this story from start to finish. Make it a winter staple and pair it with a French classic, such as Sole à la meunière or a Chicken with cream and mushroom sauce.
La Mule Blanche from Paul Jaboulet Aine is an equal blend of Marsanne and Rousanne. It present a Burgundian like expression but a bit riper profile. Ripe primary fruit with grilled lemon, juicy peaches, honey and buttercup that is supported by a foundation of nuts and crushed stones. A lovely texture on the palate with good weight and density that is balanced by a savoury and fresh base note that holds the wine togheter throughout the finish. — 6 years ago
2017 vintage. Cornas Domaine Saint-Pierre, owned by Jaboulet since 1996 apparently ( amazing that they kept buying vineyards during a period where the wines were not up to standard). Today however, Caroline Frey has put the bar high, and we cannot tolerate anything but excellence from her own vineyards. This 2017 surely delivers. Impressive nose with blackberry, cassis and spices combined with an intense minerality. Layers of juicy black fruits and spices in a powerful frame of ripe tannin, with a long mineral finish. Should age beautifully for a few decades. — 4 years ago
2018 vintage. Anything produced by Caroline Frey seems to be worth buying these days and this Cornas is no exception. Ripe black fruit, blueberry jam and spices. It maintains acidity in this hot year and is every bit as good as the delicious 2017. Abv. 14,5 %. — 4 years ago
2006 vintage. The first vintage for Caroline Frey to be in charge. This shows beautifully now for a wine that was totally underrated by Robert Parker on release. While it may not have the depth and power of the greatest vintages of this iconic wine, this 2006 is a terrific wine in it's own right. Complex nose with spices, black fruit, tobacco and cedar. In the mouth it is beautifully balanced with bright acidity embracing layers of black fruit and spices and velvety tannin. Impressive length too. Abv. 14%. — 4 years ago
2015 vintage. This is a red Savigny-lès-Beaune, so Pinot Noir from the " Monopole" vineyard " Clos des Guettotes". Château Corton-André was bought in 2014 by the Frey family and the name changed into Château Corton C. A good start for Caroline Frey (also Château La Lagune and Paul Jaboulet Ainé) with this delicious elegant Savigny with impeccable balance and velvety mouthfeel. Abv. 13%. — 4 years ago

Drank this a few weeks ago over a couple of nights and it was delicious. No detailed notes, but I would happily drink it again. — 2 months ago
