Nose has charred cherry, dried blackberry, dehydrated cranberry, old wet leather, dried blueberries, saturated cedar plank and crushed fresh blueberries.
Palate has ripe/dried blueberries, light creamy oak, dark chocolate, dried strawberry, strawberry jam, rioevblackberry, violets and wet garden soil.
Finish is forever, tannins are velvet Elvis! I can't believe I'm commiting this to actual notes, but this might be the best Biale bottle we've ever had, and it's hard to top the equal vintage from the Monte Rosso vineyard. MR is dear to my heart from most producers, but this is epic. At peak enjoyment at only 11yo! Decanted 5H.

I suspect this is the 2017 vintage, but there’s no vintage year on the label. This is an in-your-face Cote the Rhône blend. It’s as intense as any Napa or Paso Robles Rhône blend. Leather and black cherries on the nose. Lots of red fruit on the front — with a dense tannic structure that rises smoothly to the top of the palate — and it crests in a prickly wave that has lots of puckery high notes on a dark velvety background. It’s as about as subtle as a velvet Elvis painting. And to make this wine even more deliciously absurd, at the back of the palate, it whomps you with an intense calcaire finish! I really like this wine, but, if you’re interested in the more restrained sensibilities of a traditional French Cote du Rhône, this wine might be offensive and plebeian to you (In a pushy sort of Californian sort of way). But I’m afraid I’m finishing this bottle off on my own and in one sitting. Shame on me! — 5 years ago
