A lovely rich tasting red with no after taste. Good with or without food. — 10 years ago
Traditionalist Rioja. Things are run the same way as 100 years ago at López de Heredia. The wines from the Tondonia vineyards (located in a curve of the river Ebro) are aged in big, very old, oak casks for six years. After that they are aged another six years in the bottle before they hit the market. This is super comfortable and elegant. Sit back and relax. — 11 years ago
Contino gran reserva - 2016- single vineyard near the Ebro River. Dark ruby. Some translucency. On the nose, forest floor, dark berries, minerals. On the palate, red fruits, vanilla, and strong acidity still. — 4 years ago
Pleasant floral, expressive nose or ripe raspberries, body and mouthfill. A treat, as good Ebro valley Garnachas — 8 years ago
A really nice wine. — 9 years ago
We loved it! A playful red wine at the Ebro Delta. — 10 years ago
Really nice inexpensive wine. Good Spanish Syrah Garnacha blend, high alcohol with lots of smoke, wet stone smell, spice, medium to low tannins — 12 years ago
El Puntido is an old word meaning ‘staircase landing’, similar to the shape that these lands form between the Sierra de Cantabria and the Ebro River depression. Deep Ruby with aromas of fruit, floral, oak & pepper spice. On palate ripe plum and blackberry flavors, complex with layers of fruit & spice, espresso, cacao & licorice. Tannins are elegant, well balanced, long finish ending with fruit, spice and oak. Very nice ! — 5 years ago
My friend Fernando thank you. Pure raspberry and dark cherries, pleasant and fruit driven. A wine that talks about the Ebro valley. Bravo — 9 years ago
Bought this in Farraghers on the sea road in Galway Co Ireland. Lovely rioja with a hint of liquorice and an undertone of dried fruit. Very full bodied!! — 9 years ago

Just visited Vina Tondonia in Rioja and it is a privilege to try this gem of wine, it is one of the most sought after white wines in the world. Released with a minimum of twelve years of ageing at the winery, and composed of Viura and a touch of Malvasia from the iconic vineyard at the banks of the Ebro. This one is twenty one years old to be exact. Enjoying this wine is a near-ethereal experience to say the least. It’s an intellectual wine, it's a fun wine, it’s great with food, but most of all, it's f-en good! Had this with a variety of Spanish cheeses + Spanish lechon taco and it was enlightening.
The color is deep gold with amber reflections, showcasing its extensive age. The nose is exceptionally complex and captivating. The nose has aromas of dried apricots, bruised apples, orange marmalade, and chamomile blend with savory notes of toasted almonds, beeswax, and antique wood. There is a hint of baking spices, and an intriguing saline minerality. The palate is rich, layered, and full-bodied, yet surprisingly fresh given its age. Flavors of preserved lemon, dried pineapple, and caramelized nuts intertwine elegant oxidative tones. The wine’s acidity is bright and precise, creating remarkable tension against the creamy depth. The texture is both oily and firm, leading to a gripping, mineral-driven finish. The finish is incredibly long and evolving, leaving impressions of dried fruit, bitter almond, and a distinct, almost Sherry-like salinity. @delectable — a year ago
