“In the glass, the wine has a cool, dark ruby color that warms to red tinged fuchsia at the edge. Aromas of smoky griotte cherries, fresh ripe cranberries, and wild blueberries move in and out of the foreground, sometimes alternating with wild mushrooms, charcouterie, and freshly cut hay as the nose evolves in the glass. On the palate, the wine tastes “Pinoté” (more like Pinot Noir than Gamay), and grows more voluminous with time in the glass: sleek, focused, transparent, and vibrant, with a sweet core of flavors that echo the nose, including sun warmed black raspberries, dried tarragon, Earl Grey tea, and cardamom. Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016

Nose has under-ripe papaya, pineapple core, cut yellow apple, nondescript white florals and dry sandstone.

Palate has ripe pineapple core, lemon zest, light vanilla, pear puff pastry, yellow apple peel with slightly chalky notes to the medium finish. Excellent.

Testing out our new Gabriel Glas stemware tonight; almost like a (tulip) Scotch glass with a stem, really concentrating the aromas and with a wider bowl it's almost self-decanting. This was a great bottle to test them out.

I've mentioned before, never pass up the entry level wines of serious producers, they are great values, as their quality should be spread across the brand. So I'll be happy to drink the Bourgogne of anyone who also happens to make a Bâtard-Montrachet.

Stunningly golden in color, an amazing display in the Gabriel Glas!

Nose has toasted Italian bread, ripe yellow apple, beeswax, wet chalk and old lemon. Mature nose.

Palate has nutty wheat bread, oxidized yellow apple, dried lemon pith and risen bread dough.

A fabulous bottle, likely can see 2021-2026, in proper storage with no concerns. I really wish we bought more Jacquesson, like Bérèche & Chartogne-Taillet, they always over-deliver for the price point.

264,292 750ml, 10,250 1500ml & 304 3000ml produced, this bottle was merely the 750ml 🤷🏻‍♂️

Vinous Footnote: In 2011, Jacquesson did not bottle any lieu-dits. All the best fruit went into the 739. The blend is 57% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Noir and 22% Pinot Meunier, with 31% reserve wines. Disgorged October, 2015. Dosage was 3.5 grams per liter. (AG) (8/2016)
