La Morra Saglietti Flavio

Cerequio Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

2016 annata top. Etereo dal 2024/26 — 3 years ago

Oddero

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

The fruit for the Oderro Poderi e Cantine “classico” comes from a combination of the Bricco Chiesa in La Morra and the Bricco Fiasco in Castiglione Falletto MGAs. The former being considered Oddero’s “home vineyard”.

Poured into a decanter about 30min before service. In the glass, the wine displays a beautiful ruby color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with very pretty notes of Montmorency cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, a bed of roses, orange peel, fresh sage, eucalyptus and crushed rock. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, drying and grippy. This is all about balance and freshness. These are quite giving already but undoubtedly have a long life ahead. Drink now with patience or through 2044.

Mauro Molino

Bricco Luciani Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

I often don’t appreciate the wines of Mauro Molino as much I probably should. Sure, they’re a bit more modern l but they often do a good job of preserving their sense of place and for that, I should give them more credit. In addition, the value they represent is undeniable. This 2017 example from the Bricco Luciani cru in the southeastern part of La Morra, is quite giving. Popped and poured, the wine pours a very faint ruby color with a translucent core and very light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is intense and full of charm with bright red fruit reminiscent of bing cherry. There’s significant tar and roses, some orange bitters, tobacco, dried herbs, dried earth and a kiss of baking spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Predominately ripe red cherry fruit with dried herbs, earth, and just the deftest touch of baking spice. The wine has a polished texture that makes it equal parts accessible as well as intriguing. Totally dig it. These should drink well over the next 10-15 years. — 3 years ago

Francesco Rinaldi e Figli

Le Brunate Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

My second Francesco Rinaldi, first was Cannubi, but this pure La Morra is great and delicious at the moment, in the past young Barolo was untouchable, but now, you can drink them early and they are a thrill, but needs time maybe 10 years. — 6 years ago
