1985 Domaine Des Chezaux Griotte-Chambertin. Lunch at Tap while DS was visiting. He was super excited abt this wine. Exceptional. Didn’t decant. Drank straight away. — 8 years ago
2013 Lafon Mersualt-Porusots. LACMA group lunch. DS owner. Nice minerality. Great w shellfish. High in acid. — 8 years ago
9L 1972 DRC Marey-Monge RSV. DS birthday. Burgundy flight w '90 Fourrier Clos St. Jacques Gevrey Chambertin. Both great. Favored this tho- not too sweet on nose. Would never have guessed it was as old as it was. — 9 years ago
Baudrys’ “no-name” Chinon cuvée buoyantly and mouthwateringly captures inimitable layering of Loire Cabernet Franc: bittersweet floral perfume; pungent green herbs; tangy dark berries; savory singed lamb; salt and iodine. Perfect for winter’s “wine-killing” dark leafy greens and root vegetables.(DS) — 10 years ago
This is a big fruit forward wine. Probably the best DS I’ve had in awhile and ‘14s. Black licorice on the nose and a lot of baked dark fruit. Palate is well balance. Fruit, acid and great texture. — 6 years ago
1990 DRC Richebourg. Lunch at Tap while DS was visiting. Drank this side by side to the 1985 Griotte-Chambertin. Hard to pick a fave- they were very different. This one had much more fruit and texture to it and I might have favored it slightly. — 8 years ago
2014 Leflaive Les Folatieres Puligny Montrachet. DS-hosted group dinner at N Mal. Excellent. — 8 years ago
9L 1993 Bryant Family Pritchard Hill CS. DS birthday. Cab flight alongside '84Ridge Monte Bello. Hard to pick a fave, but this was slightly bigger and more rich. Maybe favored by a hair. — 9 years ago
1993 Leroy Clos de Vougeot burgundy. Dinner at C's while B&M S and DS were visiting. Excellent. Decanted just before serving and not sure if we got a funky bottle, but it didn't live up to our hopes. K had never had this wine before. K: not great fruit, short finish, more austere than expected- especially from '93. We think it was the bottle that was funky :( — 10 years ago
A Riesling-like Grüner Veltliner. Snap pea, pepper cress, crabapple and white peach deliver invigorating piquancy and consummate refreshment. A lick of salt adds to the mouthwatering finishing allure of this satiny, mouth-filling yet bright, buoyant beauty. (DS)

1985 Domaine Ponsot Griotte-Chambertin Vielles Vignes. Dinner at Rep w DS, A&L S, McC. Amazing. Clove, leather, dark berries, mineral. Absolutely amazing. Did not decant. — 8 years ago
1964 Louis Martini CS. Lunch at Tap while DS was visiting. Fun to drink this, as he had gifted it to us a couple years ago. Delicious. No decanting. Still had fruit. Lovely. — 8 years ago
1976 DRC Exhezeaux. DS-hosted dinner at N Mal. Decanted. It was not pruney off the gate. Still tons of fruit. Evolved a lot very quickly in the glass. — 8 years ago
6L 1995 Chateau Latour Bordeaux. DS birthday. Final wine of dinner. Awesome. Still so green and young. — 9 years ago
1994 Screaming Eagle. Dinner at C's while B&M S and DS were visiting. Biggest wine of the three tonight- '93 Leroy and '90 Lafite. Juicy, ripe red fruit- absolutely perfect. Very big flavors, but so silky and smooth, with a long, velevety finish. Everyone loved. — 10 years ago
A suggestion of herbal and floral extracts is nicely backed by sweetness as it comes to the palate, at the same time shows refreshing cut with fresh lime. Hints of wild fennel and nettle add piquancy and prickle to an impressive and invigorating, slightly sweet-sour finish. (DS) — 10 years ago
3L Pierre Yves Colin Morey Les Perrieres Mersault. Bday dinner at Tap. Double-decanted it. JW and DS thought it might have been corked. Slightly better after decanting twice. Still had that wet dog, musty smell to it. Was much better the next day at lunch. Much more drinkable at lunch and peeps enjoyed it then. Still a big question of whether corked or too young or style of wine? — 10 years ago
