Essenza francese. Eleganza e raffinatezza senza troppi fru fru. — 2 months ago
Stunning example of how to handle Viognier in Virginia. Matthieu! Par excellence - the mouth… The balance between oak and acid was glorious! at just four years from vintage, amazing quality, and so beautiful with the food. — 9 months ago
From Williston Ave. Wine and Spirits. Boozy, dry, dark chocolate-covered cherries, a bit herbal, a bit funky 🤔 — a month ago
Really nice and way better on day three being open. A lot of brine and meaty qualities but some good fruit that was even light and tart. Pretty great balance. — 4 months ago
2022 vintage. Lots of changes in 2022, as Xavier Planty sold his shares to Matthieu Gufflet. Xavier's son, Luc Planty took care of a smooth transition ( check him out for his ambitious project at Château de Malle!) when Sandrine Garbay (Château Yquem's maître de chai for more than 2 decades) was nominated as a general manager. Her first vintage is excellent, with beautiful aromatics (roasted pineapple, vanilla, mango, honey, and flowers). Layered and intense with lots of botrytis, but also an amazingly refreshing acidity which reminds me of the 2014 Sauternes vintage. Exquisite balance, layered, and with a very long, fresh finish with a subtle almond bitterness. Excellent, and still very affordable for this quality. A pleasure to taste now, but I expect true magic in a decade or more. Ab. 13,5%. — 25 days ago
Fee-nominal…the winner (so far) of the 2010’s PV challenge. At 11.5 years from harvest, this beauty from Matthieu Finot sang like a concentrated Right Bank medoc…layers of dark berries, violet & herbs with smoky matting. Still proving enough tannic punch to cut through house grilled cheeseburgers and squash. Bold yet balance. Thank you Ellen for this wonderful gift :) — 2 years ago
