Cuvée 1921 Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau Red Rhone Blend 2017

This old-vine (mostly) Grenache is really elegant and good. Gorgeously pure nose of framboise and warm crushed rock dust (sandstone and granite?). A bit of sweet baking spice. Mouthfilling but not in the least heavy in the mouth, it’s got a soft texture framed with a bit of fine-grained tannin. There’s a pure fruit note that clings on the finish. Acids are medium low but the balance is there, calibrated on the sultry side. I have been down on the Southern Rhône of late but this makes me feel more optimistic. — 3 months ago

Hefty CdR, plenty of black fruit and allspice, medium acid, medium tannin. Per usual #weygandtwines overdelivers — 7 months ago

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2015

Still tightly wound. This wine took about three hours decant to just begin to open up. The tannins need another year or two to integrate. After 3.5 houses the nose was singing with floral underbrush, tapenade, kirsch, and smoke. I want to try a bottle in two years. — a year ago

Coming around nicely. Drinks young and still has a long life ahead. Ripe red and dark fruit with integrated tannins. — 2 years ago
