la Bidaude Morey St. Denis Chardonnay 2014

Medium lemon colour . This shows some maturity on the nose with honied lemon , butter and slightly chalky white peach. On the palate this has good intensity and balance with nice acidity , honied lemon , white peach , chalk dust and wet stone , toasty notes on the moderate finish . At peak now , and I would drink over the next 3-5 of years. — 7 days ago

Les Vercots Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Pinot Noir

This is oh soo soo good. Light, clear medium rubi robe, nose of cherries and anise, complex and medium bodied. Needs 3 to 4 more years in the cellar. — 5 months ago

Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2019

Flash tasting; no formal notes. The 2019 “Clos des Chênes” is a light ruby; elegant and lithe with modest structure. Balanced but too youthful at this stage. Better after 2029. — 6 months ago

Les Bons Ores Chorey lès Beaune Pinot Noir 2019

Like previous bottles, I absolutely adored this. Notes are consistent as before.

As an interesting comparison, the Guyon had a perfumed nose (whole cluster) like the Bouley, but was less intense, simpler, and fruitier. On the palate, it was less structured than the Bouley, but was tangier and juicier.

Domaine Bertagna

Clos de la Perrière Vougeot 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Flash tasting; no formal notes. The 2018 “Clos de la Perrière” is a Bertagna monopole. It’s pretty with fresh red fruits, forest floor and some pleasant baking spices. There more depth than the 2018 Guyon Bourgogne tasted just before (as it should!). Better after 2025. — 6 months ago

Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Not an expert in burgundy but I liked it a lot. It was a risky bottle that was stored in unknown conditions. 2009 drunk in 2024. Nevertheless, it showed great balance of acidity, sweetness and tannins, although somewhat disassembled structure. Power manifests itself when you sip but not for long. First notes were lac and leather, then periods of quietness, but then evolved with fresh oaky notes, then jammed wild strawberries, and then freshly crushed ripe blueberries. Overall evolution was not long but did driver very very pleasant experience. — a month ago

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Flash tasting; no formal notes. The 2018 Charmes Chambertin is deeper ruby and shows light staining with fruit cake-like character and warm spices. The structure seems a bit modest for a GC. Better after 2025 — 6 months ago
