This is the 2019 Domaine Ballorin Marsannay “Les Amoureux.” It’s yet another value-priced 2019 that is dangerously delicious. Nose is the pure essence of Pinot Noir. Vibrant, sappy, ripe dark cherries, a musky, sweet note of violets, and a slight moist humus (not hummus) note. Just captivating. In the mouth, it’s more youthful and tightly wound than the nose would suggest. There’s an initial whack of sexy Pinot fruit, but it tightens up fast, with zingy acids and fine-grained chalky tannins. Long finish. This will easily improve over the next few years. Impressive! — 2 years ago
I opened this to cook our coq au vin with, but after tasting it, I found it hard to dump in the Dutch oven! This is great passetoutgrain with crackling crunchy fruit! Now I have to find something better to pair with the dish... — 10 years ago
Surprisingly delicious. Earthy and mineral infused fruit. Lots of energy and sizzle with considerable length and depth. Kind of like seeing a young buck in the woods- looks beautiful but you know it will grow up to be even more. — 6 years ago
White flowers on the nose, not a very varietal nose. The palate is really lovely with lots of white fruits and a silk layer that makes it really good. Superb experience — 8 years ago
