A brilliant bottle of what it is. Rough. Simple, fruity but balanced. Great with charcuterie. Nose is a bit meaty. Like Italian syrah.

Beware, I’m sprinkling in some sweeter treats here…macerated 40 days after drying on the vine—yielding a very natural 107g/L residual sugar. Not much on the nose, but this is a very nice white. 80% chard gives it boday and lit oak. 20% Favorita lightens it up to remind me of a heavy pinot grogio. Great with or without food. Yum!

With a pretty, pale pink color and sweetly scented nose, the 2021 Rosa Dolce & Gabbana makes a lovely first impression. Ripe melon, Asian pear, mint and nuances of white smoke create an inviting bouquet. It’s round and elegant in feel, engulfing the palate in mineral-tinged orchard fruits and hints of chamomile. A salty flourish emerges through the finale, as notes of sour citrus and inner wet stone slowly fade. This is a total pleasure to taste. Drinking an excellent Sangiovese while eating good pizza is Tuscany la dolce vita. Good acidity, tobacco, dried cherry. I liked the 2004 just a bit better, though this is still a top shelf wine. The wine is actually too good for pizza but what the heck. — 10 years ago
