Having with pasta and homemade marinara. Wonderfully smooth! — 2 days ago
The 2001 Opus One is a masterful blend that truly embodies the elegance and structure of Napa Valley wines. The deep ruby color is immediately captivating, and the nose opens with rich aromas of black currant, dark cherries, and subtle hints of tobacco and cedar. On the palate, it delivers an impeccably balanced experience, with layers of ripe blackberry, plum, and a touch of dark chocolate, all interwoven with earthy undertones and a refined minerality. — 10 days ago
1996 vintage. Tasted most recently on 8.2.24 (9.6) and that bottle was slightly better. Tasted out of magnum in 2023 and that rated as highly as the previous mention (9.6). This had a really nice fill, good cork and was decanted (throwing pretty big sed). Tasted after an hour. Gorgeous and with plenty of power but just barely dialed down from 11 with this bottle. Has this exalted winery made a better bottle of red or white wine in their entire existence? Not in my experiences. 9.29.24. — 13 days ago
Lovely nose of black currant, dark berries, lavender earth, leather, and wood - the palate seems balanced but lacks density which is a detractor for me. This improved with a 2 hour decant — 4 days ago

For a classic Chicago steak house dinner, this is a great Merlot to go with. Nicely balanced, brighter than expected acidity, smooth. — 8 days ago
