Lovely light melon notes, with balancing lemon pith. This is a slightly richer white grape than the other neighborhood white (Arneis), with no trailing bitter notes, but still not “tropical” in my book. It’s just good stuff, minimal oak, easy-drinking. Eataly Dallas — 4 years ago

Late to post this from Friday night dinner at Gemma (Dallas spot with nice wine list). Surprised to find this one on the list and just had to order. Fortunately they decanted for us, but it was still a little cooler temp than my liking. Overall this is always a pleaser. Still can’t believe this is a second wine for PT. Silky smooth tannins. Approachable now, but will become even more elegant with time in the bottle. Can’t beat this QPR. Napa cab that holds true to Bordeaux style. (Drank 1/3/20) (not my photo) — 5 years ago

Don Melchor comes from a unique 313-acre vineyard planted on the rock soils of one of the Maipo River’s oldest terraces at the foot of the Andes Mountains, one of the world’s most celebrated terroirs for cabernet sauvignon.
The 2014 Don Melchor Puente Alto Vineyard gives both old world and new world expressions. This wine is full-bodied, rich, and elegant. Dark red fruit. Beautifully balanced. The vintage is 92% cabernet sauvignon and 8% cabernet franc. I recommend a healthy decant before enjoying.
If in Dallas right now, I recommend sitting with this one next to a fireplace. — 2 years ago

Another fine recommendation from David Waddington at Siegels on Greenville in Dallas. This was our “it’s 5 O’clock somewhere” first glass. Lovely soft golden color, crisp apples, ripe pear, lovely floral nose, silky smooth mouth feel, with a bit o grip on the finish to keep it interesting with appropriate sophistication. Works great with sharp cheeses and salty crisps! Can’t wait to try it with grilled salmon. — 6 years ago
