Château Pierbone

Haut-Médoc Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Pierbone is the second wine of Cru Bourgeois Château Peyrabon, property of Patrick Bernard (also owner of Bordeaux négociant Millésima and cousin of Olivier Bernard who owns Domaine de Chevalier). While it doesn't have the depth and structure of the grand vin, it shows how well some of these second wines can age in great vintages like 2010. Drinking beautifully at 10 years old it has a slightly jammy Amarena cherries nose, intertwined with hints of cocoa and cedar wood. In the mouth the jamminess of the cherry fruit is well-balanced by the acidity and the ripe tannin. Not particularly complex, but a delight to drink now and well worth the 18 euros for a mature Haut-Médoc. Abv. 13,5%. — 6 months ago

Wild Arc Farm

Bi Sekt Riesling Traminette 2018

Excellent magnum, fun to share! Good amount of barnyard and acrid, cat piss nose balanced out with a soft bubble and medium acidity. A little tight. A close, sparkling cousin to their Luca (Traminette). — 3 days ago

Louis Sozet

Cornas Syrah 2017

Lyle Fass

Wow. Insane nose. Just god level epic. Black olive. Hint of green olive. Clay. Granite. So deep. So aromatic. Blown away aromas. So mineral. Goes through many phases. Spice. Game. So distinctive. Palate is young but so impressive. Precise like a laser, stunningly red fruited and a hint of decadence but really fine and pure. This will take hours to unfurl. And unfurl it will. As it always does. That’s what Sozet does. This is the final vintage, sadly. Louis died and his cousin sold off 18 and 19 in the barrel. Nose is getting crazy olive and floral after air. Palate has prodigious concentration but this will need 3-5 hours to come around I think. This is from old old vines. Same as Tunnel Pur Noir. What a finish. 9.5 based on what’s there now. It’s so obviously great. But it’s tight!

With an hour of air the complexity starts to really show. So much going on. Superb freshness and purity. Slowly getting there. 9.55 now.

Domaine Pernot-Bélicard

Les Perrières Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay

Drank the big cousin from Meursault last week and once again this 2018 is gorgeous. Steely with great backbone, freshness and elegance, the purity of fruit is remarkable, great balance and such a great bottle. As it should be, the Puligny was straighter and had a little less richness than the Meursault. 92-93

Bu le Meursault il y a quelques jours et bien que typé Puligny avec un style plus droit et moins large, ce Puligny Perrières est non moins magnifique aussi, classe, élégance et finesse au RV, fruit très pur.
