Eighth wine at Oakton this afternoon and last red. Dark garnet red with some browning on the edges. A lot is going on with the nose, started off a little stinky with some barnyard funk, greenery and some dirt. Some additional undertones of red cherries and green peppers. Great texture on the palate with heavy tannins (8/10) and a ton of red cherries and light vegetal note. Full bodied and long finish. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Grenache. Stunning wine. Drink till 2026. — 8 years ago

First wine we tried at the Oakton Wine Shop's 5th year anniversary celebration. Very light pink and clear. Lots of tropical fruits on the nose, with some citrus and watermelon undertones. Moderate acidity (6/10) and light bodied. Palate was coated with strawberries and citrus fruits. Long dry finish. Drink till 2019. — 8 years ago

Third wine at Oakton this afternoon and second white. Slightly darker than the 2015 Celler Xavier Clua Terra Alta Il lusió, still clear and pale yellow with a beige hue. Very interesting nose with some sea shells, not like the ocean, more like mussels. Complex palate with some savory notes to start that opened up with some hay, white flowers, honey suckle, and undertones of white fruits. Moderate acidity (6.5/10) with a moderate plus body. Definitely seems like a food wine and packs a punch. Long and lingering dry finish. Absolutely delicious Garnatxa Blanca. Drink till 2023. — 8 years ago
