Clos Marsalette

Clos Marsalette

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. Co-owned by Stephan von Neipperg ( La Mondotte and Canon La Gaffelière). 50 % Merlot, 49% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc. Slightly jammy red and black fruit, intertwined with smokey oak and spices. Good concentration and velvety mouthfeel with a spicy finish. Not as profound as the excellent 2018, but a very attractive wine. One wonders why one can find it at dumping prices in my local hypermarket. Abv. 14,5%. — 4 months ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend

2019 vintage. Tasted alongside the 2019 Clos Marsalette, this is less flashy, but more refined. An elegant Olivier with impeccable balance and charm that sells for a song. Abv. 14,5%. — 4 months ago

Clos Marsalette

Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2014

This is 70% Sauv Blanc but I found the 30% Semillon quite pronounced. Stone fruits, sea salt, parsley, and wax. — 4 years ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Echo de Lynch-Bages Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

52$ SAQ 2009 Very good but I should have put it in a carafe. It was not as complex as I would have expected but still good. Clos Marsalette remains a better deal. — 8 years ago
