Cimarron Vineyard, Willcox AZ. “White Wine” on label. 44/23/12/12/8 blend of Roussanne, Picpoul Blanc, Malvasia, Viognier and Albariño. Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Floral, vanilla and honey notes in nose. Soft, almost dry, citrus and orchard fruit with length in mouth, lemon and grapefruit peel in finish. Subtle, well crafted wine. Label depicts a “family dog” (Ace, now deceased) painted by the artist Leonard Bianco — 3 years ago
Cimarron Vineyard. 50/24/9/9/8 blend of Monastrell, Garnacha, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Counoise. 15% alc/vol. I love the screw cap (seriously). Purple-red, light to moderate pigment extraction, very good clarity. Red fruit “fruit leather” and funk in nose. Cherry, raspberry flavors, cola with length on finish, nice acidity with light skin astringency on finish. A menthol flavor emerges after two hours, while the cola flavor recedes. Still an easy-drinking style as suggested by reviews here of earlier vintages. — 5 years ago
