Dos Cabezas Wineworks
El Norte Red Blend
Cimarron Vineyard. 50/24/9/9/8 blend of Monastrell, Garnacha, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Counoise. 15% alc/vol. I love the screw cap (seriously). Purple-red, light to moderate pigment extraction, very good clarity. Red fruit “fruit leather” and funk in nose. Cherry, raspberry flavors, cola with length on finish, nice acidity with light skin astringency on finish. A menthol flavor emerges after two hours, while the cola flavor recedes. Still an easy-drinking style as suggested by reviews here of earlier vintages.

Dec 12th, 2019Dos Cabezas WineWorks Cimarron Vineyard ‘El Norte’ 2014: Full-bodied. Balanced. Rich robust flavors. Started off with raspberry & earth notes but evolved over the next 24 hours to dark fruits, tobacco, leather & spice. The finish was round & dry. For me, this was a very unique Arizona red blend of 50% Monastrell, 24% Garnacha, 9% Syrah, 9% Petite Sirah & 8% Counoise, making a surprisingly good representation & reminder of either a Spanish Tempranillo or Grenache wine. All in all, I loved this rich, dark & full of character Southern Arizona wine selection. Two thumbs up! Nice work! Cheers🍷
