Chloe Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2018

Xmas Eve quaff. Delicate and subtle presentation on the nose and palate. Restrained in every way. Notes of citrus and beeswax combine on the nose with a light honied sweetness on the mid palate. Acidity is delicate. Overall, a nice presentation but nothing to get excited about either — 3 days ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

This wine is drinking great. Silver Oak can be pretty tannic, especially the Alexander Valley. 10 years in, that has mellowed and you’re getting some nice fruit and secondary flavors. Chloe V-Day gift. — 2 years ago

The SO Alexanders all need a mandatory, 10 year cooling-off period. After a decade, the ridiculous oak has faded and you're left with an integrated Cabernet that I'd blind taste against anything...ANYTHING from California or Bordeaux. Might not come in first but it will be accounted for. Before that mandatory 10-spot, it's coming in last every single time. Just sayin.'

Agree on the age-ability @vinokeeno. Since we took full control of our Missouri cooperage in 2015 the tannin integration has entered a new era. Shoot me an email and I’ll send you our 2019 Alex when it is released to see what I mean.

Woodlands

Chloe Chardonnay 2015

My last bottle of 2015 Woodlands Chloe. Quite restrained - very well made. Everything in balance at 9 years of age. Last bottle we had was in early 2023 - matched with the 2015 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay and some tasters preferred the 2015 Chloe. White peach. Not too lean, not too full bodied - perfect balance - a “goldilocks” Margaret River Chardonnay. Woodlands is better known for its stellar Cabernet and Cabernet blends but also makes this fine Chardonnay. — a month ago

Mixed spice on the nose transitions to honeydew melon and roasted nuts and elderflower. Possesses depth and texture with moderate acidity. Nice lengthy finish. Loving this…

I quite enjoyed this Bordeaux blend from Larkmead. I thought it would be more subdued. The tannins were mellow but otherwise it was bright and fruit forward. Chloe liked it. Would drink again. $100, RP 94 pts. — 2 years ago
