Chloe Chardonnay 2016

Pale lemon yellow (surprising after 7 years of age). Nutty, cashews, a struck match funky component. More savoury than fruit driven. Medium plus palate intensity. Tastes more old world than new world. An excellent Chardonnay in perfect balance. — 7 months ago

Larkmead Vineyards

Firebelle Napa Valley Merlot Blend 2013

I quite enjoyed this Bordeaux blend from Larkmead. I thought it would be more subdued. The tannins were mellow but otherwise it was bright and fruit forward. Chloe liked it. Would drink again. $100, RP 94 pts. — a year ago

Chloe Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2021

Well presented nose of lanolin, beeswax and guava. Palate is quite dense and viscous. Moderate acidity leads into a delicately sweet, long finish. Understated, yet complete and integrated. Drink now or hold for a few years…
In terms of the bottle price, this wine is excellent.

I’ll buy more if the winery lets me. It’s the old story which I loathe: Join the club and access these…

Yeah I am off almost every list now. Not sure what the mailing list price was for these but K&L has them now. I’ve found most of my mailing list wines there, the same vineyards and no min required. I kinda flipped on one list when I saw the same bottle, no min, since I’m close no shipping charge, a materially lower price and available earlier than it was to the list by months? Super unclear why I was paying and waiting for it. I’m sure there are some where it makes sense but it’s fewer and fewer.

@Norman Gennaro, I’m with you. There’s no wine strong enough for me to do that club shit - no wine. As you remarked, plenty of great wines on the secondary market. I already have 1K plus bottles in my cellar. It’s a crime scene already. I have no club memberships and never will have.

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

This wine is drinking great. Silver Oak can be pretty tannic, especially the Alexander Valley. 10 years in, that has mellowed and you’re getting some nice fruit and secondary flavors. Chloe V-Day gift. — a year ago

The SO Alexanders all need a mandatory, 10 year cooling-off period. After a decade, the ridiculous oak has faded and you're left with an integrated Cabernet that I'd blind taste against anything...ANYTHING from California or Bordeaux. Might not come in first but it will be accounted for. Before that mandatory 10-spot, it's coming in last every single time. Just sayin.'

Agree on the age-ability @vinokeeno. Since we took full control of our Missouri cooperage in 2015 the tannin integration has entered a new era. Shoot me an email and I’ll send you our 2019 Alex when it is released to see what I mean.
