'Vin efferverscent' inspired by the champenois. But made of #cheninblanc. At least aged for eleven months. Made by a woman-winemaker Liv Vincendeau, who came to the Loire region in 2000. The wine is new to me, it was served as aperitive in the Michelin starred restaurant Une Île in Angers. It impressed me. Lively taste with mild but very apparent acidity. Perfect starter. The domaine is on my wish list for a future visit. Located in Rochefort sur Loire. #crémantdeloire — 7 years ago
Vintage 1994 - Selection de Grains Nobles - I bought this #CoteauxduLayon in 1996 when the kids build sandcastles on a small beach on the banks of the Louet river just beneath the river “La #loire in the commune #Rochefort. After 23 y this wine has a mahony brown colour, a shy smell but terrific balance. Beautiful #cheninblanc to partner a Xmas Tarte Tatin. And also a sweet memory 😃 — 7 years ago
A bit harsh upon opening. Very nutty. Rochefort cheese and mushrooms too. Mellowed after 45 minutes. Pretty unique tasting. — 3 years ago
The Baumard family growing the noble Chenin at Rochefort in the Anjou for centuries, in 1953 they acquired a vineyard in the Quarts de Chaume, & in 1968, purchased acreage in Savennieres. Straw with full fruit and light spice aromas. On the palate ripe apple, pear & melon, complex, with vivid acidity. Lingering, ending with mineral and sweet honey character. Wow. A white that should age well.
