Slight floral (red and purple flower) on the nose, tomato leaves, dried thyme, sage leaves, black cherry, licorice, dark plum, slightly smoky, high tannin, med plus acidity,!a bit irony, slightly vanilla. Classic Boudreaux. Give it couple years could be splendid! — 6 years ago
A very nine wine, but would be best after dinner as a desert wine as it was very sweet like a Sauternes. — 8 years ago
Nose has green melon rind, over-ripe peach, orange pith, pink salt slab, golden raisins, dehydrated apricots and celery leaf; Improvement with extended air.
Palate has dried lemon, candied pineapple, warm clementine orange wedge, peach skin, dehydrated peach, wet sand, medium acidity and finish.
This bottle is in a nice spot today, but not up to par with the Ch. La Rame (outstanding showing) today.
$14 Jul 2015; buy and cellar inexpensive Bordeaux Blanc, be very happy later when the acidity settles...
Hold future bottles 2023-25. — 2 years ago
Crisp, hints of apple but not overly tart like many of the Marlborough’s . Highly recommend, — 3 years ago
Unreal. If I’m going to drink dessert wine this is it. — 6 years ago

Opened about an hour before service. No formal notes. The 1996 Château La Rame “Réserve du Château” pours a deep burnished copper/gold color with medium+ viscosity. Layers of delicious dried apricots, candied lemon, honeysuckle, nuts, with perfectly balanced acid. This is a rich and decadent dessert wine that reminds me of Sauternes (as it should considering it's 100% old-vine Sémillion affected by botrytis) and and a lovely pairing with what was an artistic, deconstructed take on a lemon meringue pie. Will probably live forever. — 9 months ago
