Pungent, interesting wine. Crushed flowers, overly ripe plum, sour cherries, ripe raspberries, maybe bark. Astringent. Serious wine. Open this way in advance. — 3 months ago

Piano Chiuso Riserva, 2022, Masca del Tacco – Primitivo di Manduria DOC, Puglia, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
100% Primitivo sourced from the Manduria zone in southern Puglia, one of the most concentrated terroirs for the grape. This Riserva expression highlights the richness and power typical of Primitivo di Manduria while maintaining notable balance and polish.
Aromas & Flavors
Ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum layered with dark chocolate, sweet spice, and subtle Mediterranean herbal undertones.
Mouthfeel
Full-bodied and muscular with dense fruit concentration. Smooth tannins and a polished texture lead to a long and satisfying finish with minimal rustic edges.
Food Pairings
Braised meats, grilled steak, lamb dishes, hearty ragù pasta, aged cheeses.
Verdict
A powerful yet refined Primitivo that showcases the depth and character of Manduria with impressive balance and drinkability.
Did You Know?
Primitivo di Manduria wines often reach higher alcohol levels due to the region’s warm climate and naturally sugar-rich grapes, contributing to their bold structure and dense fruit profile.
🍷 Personal Pick
The real deal. Bold, character-driven, and dangerously drinkable, hard to stop at just one glass. — 4 months ago
We loved this one. A splurge for us at $23 — 6 years ago
Color of shades of purple, mixed with ruby and brown tone, a bit cloudy. Nose is nice with concentrated dried strawberries, black cherry, leather, dark fruits, and ice wine like honey fragrance. Taste is also nice with refined tannins, subtle acidity, zest, vanilla, oak, dark fruits, and dressed with some more dark fruits. Aftertaste is savory with refined sweet and zesty note, and some more tannins. Peaking now. Enjoy now. — 7 years ago
Caught it at a good time in its life. A little reluctant at first, but opened up beautifully. Good structure, still plenty of fruit left, and nice oak spice. — 7 years ago

This tastes more like a Left Bank Bordeaux than a straight Cab. It is thoroughly enjoyable with buoyant fruit, lively acids and rich oak.
BlackBerry, cherry, cloves, black tea, heaping of spices, rich integrated oak.
Equal parts fun and serious. Good Walla Walla red wine. — 2 months ago
