Fruit bomb, with some light spices, full bodied and rich — 7 months ago
Light berries, floral, patio puncher — a year ago
I have never tried a wine from Molise before. On the Adriatic coast east of Naples and a little north of Bari, I had no idea what to expect. This 85% Montepulciano and 15% Aglianico blend is robust. But somehow shows a bit of lightness and salty sea breeze. Dark cherry, plum, spice. Very good with food. You could drink this wine every day and never grow tired of it. — 3 years ago

Deep ruby color, low acidity and tannin, red fruit, dusty flavor — 8 months ago
Less $$ than most CdP. Definitely recognizable as from its appellation… and a good deal, but, sure, you gotta expect to get no more than you pay for. Less nose than I like. Plenty of heat. Green cerignola olives w/o any brine. Tannic (in a good way for me). Tart red fruits. Bit of gravel juice. A Sturdy wine. Not terribly nuanced. Missing the highlights of many spiky, delicious flavors that all meld together brilliantly of the higher end CdPs, but, hey, i paid half as much as those cost…twice as much as some Côtes du Rhônes which are “correct” yet lack even more nuanced yumminess. I am happy to but this again at this price. — 2 years ago
One of the best reds of the trip. Very tasty, velvety with tannins. Fruit forward (I don’t know what I’m talking about). Damn good, local and cheap — 5 years ago
Needs to decant & open for 30+ but is lovely.

Fruity and pleasant, maybe a little too dry? — 3 years ago
Deep ruby; pronounced intensity aromas of vinyl, tar, earth, and leather upon pouring; more fruit as it opens up, blackberry, black plum, cocoa; dry, medium acid, high tannins, medium alcohol, full, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium plus finish, this is a BIG wine, very complex and concentrated — 5 years ago
Pizzeria Toro. Decent drinking wine — 8 years ago
Delightful, easy drinking primitivo. Really exciting on the nose: blackberry, tobacco and dark chocolate. Cinnamon white pepper, and Hungarian paprika are added on the palate (midpalate to finish), and the dark chocolate notes appear more as dark roast coffee on the palate. Score is lower than I would give it otherwise because it is a bit flabby for my taste. This makes it a good easy drinker though because it is very smooth. Acid is on the low side for the varietal and you really only get the tannins on the finish. Definitely one to buy again though. Good value at $20 and quite approachable for dinner party guests. — 9 years ago
