Cantina Mendrisio Gioia 2023, Switzerland
Here is a unique Merlot for #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Pale gold in color.
The nose reminds me of a Sauvignon Blanc with a touch of Chardonnay.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with mild complexity.
Showing citrus, green apples, grapefruits, bitter herbs and spices.
Tangy finish with limes and light almonds.
Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Nicely balanced and elegant.
A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Chardonnay. Aged in concrete vats on the lees for 6 months.
12.3% alcohol by volume.
89 points.

Falanghina is as flexible as it gets, pears, apricots, jasmine. Acidity to carry the bubbles. Light and structured. — 2 years ago

Superb wine drinking following making authentic pesto the old way. — 2 years ago
Cool label. Folk art vibes and a fancy crest. Lovely color. Slightest rust in the red rose petal paint palate. Aroma is slightly musky with a floral element. Zinger Tea. (That’s rose-hips). Flavors are herbs and citrus peal. Some berry Danish. Very Italian flavors. Clean and clear on the tongue too. This is a nice flavorful classic from the hills of the Italian countryside. — 2 years ago

Nicely aged Nebbiolo. Nose a combination of lifted fresh and dried roses, strawberry, hint of caramel, earthy mushroom compost. Slightly dusty. On the palate a nice, silky texture without rough tannic edges and a good dose of acidity. Strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry. Decent length. A nice pairing with homemade carbonara. — a day ago
