Like this one a lot. A very bright, fresh, mineral, sappy Barbera, not quite like any other I’ve had. Crunchy red fruit, roasted sweet cherry tomato, a touch of menthol on the noise. A soft herbal quality, medium plus acids and good structure. Tannins are firm but never astringent and soften nicely with about an hour of air. Would decant next time. — 4 years ago
Sparkling Erbaluce in Alba from benchmark producer. Learned that outside of Canavese, the name Erbaluce cannot be used. It seems that sometimes the Italians - and Alto Piedmontese (a name we in the US bestowed on a them) let their hyper local regional alliances and squabbles - undermine their global marketability. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Nicely balanced and elegant.
A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Chardonnay. Aged in concrete vats on the lees for 6 months.
