Mas d'en Compte Blanco Priorat White Blend 2018

Golden. Clove, vanilla, mellow acidity. The oak is pleasant and not overwhelming. Delicious. — 7 months ago

Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

Backward mountain fruit, but not as tannic as I’d expected, though this should easily last another 25 years, old school Cal Cabernet (13% ABV) that I long for!! — 2 years ago

Inglenook

Cask Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1961

Cask J1. Dark blackish tawny color. Very much opaque. Wispy, rustic nose. Notes of charcoal, roses, mocha, cola, vanilla, and charred barrel. Seems very old to me. Is it fortified? While I'm trying to ascertain what this might be, it's revealed as old school Cal Cab. Pretty impressive stuff. — 3 years ago

Cadence

Bel Canto Cara Mia Vineyard Red Blend 2016

Have you baked fruit I’ve only slightly accompanied, bacon, spices, more like a little bit of juicy and fatty tannins that complement more than blend. Gives a good structure, so the whole thing doesn’t end up too jammy. Woods beyond oak like cedar, cigarbox, Cedar, Pinion-wood, things like that. A little bit of forest floor mushroom. — 7 months ago

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Counterpoint Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

Always been a fan of the 1995 Cal Cabs, this shows just a trace of a green note up front, but nicely balanced, ready to drink, second label Laurel Glen!! — 2 years ago

Miss those 80's and 90's vintages of Laurel Glen. Tough love in a bottle.

Cantina Ar.Pe.Pe.

Inferno Riserva Sesto Canto Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo 2013

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2013 Inferno Sesto Canto Riserva pours a luminous, pale garnet color with a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. The nose is soaring out of the gate with remarkably pretty red fruit notes: strawberries, raspberries, cherries, red flowers, rocky earth and exotic spices. On the palate, medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and hugely satisfying. The 2013 Inferno Sesto Canto is inimitable in its purity and elegance. A wine of class. This was a beautiful pairing with risotto age shaved truffles. Drink now and through 2033. — 6 months ago

Chateau Montelena

The Montelena Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1991

Super dark purple color, very primary dark fruits, rich, good balance, (ripe) tannins are there, but drinks like a 10-year-old Cal Cabernet, absolutely fabulous!!! — 2 years ago
